I agree, I have seen plenty of Bradford and quite frankly I think Davis has the tools to challenge. People can holler 3rd string QB but I know a UDFA who was once nothing more than a 3rd string QB stuck behind some pretty bad QB until he got his chance.

Yep. UDFA is difficult for people to get out of their minds but that is no guarantee of mediocre or bad play. Romo, Miles Austin, James Harrison, etc. have proven that over and over.

This is Davis 3rd year in the league he is getting a chance, I'm interested to see how he fairs over the course of the year. Kid has a good arm and made some very nice throws on the run. He also made some mistakes and unfortunately for the Rams that is part of learning the position. No doubt Dallas made is life a little too comfortable with the lack of pressure but still saw enough of Davis to think he could take that job from Bradford

Davis looked better than I ever saw Bradford look. The turnovers are something that he'll have to overcome just like Romo did. I'm not saying that he'll become another Romo... just that I think he can be a good starter with some more time.

I watched both Favre and Davis play at Southern Miss - and the young guy is no Brett Favre - but he has very good athleticism for a QB, can throw accurately on the move, and has a little bit of fire in his belly. He could be a good player although I don't think he will ever become another Favre or even Romo.

Still I'm pulling for him...

10th in points / game (21.5)
24th overall in yards / game (379.8)
26th overall in passing yards / game (271.2)
14th overall in rushing yards / game (108.5)

and if you're interested in the offense:

4th in points / game (28.8)
8th in yards / game (383.8)
20th in passing yards / game (218.8)
1st in rushing yards / game (165.0)

So ..... how many more games do y'all (the non-believers) need to wait before you decide this Defense is better than EVERYONE thought it was going to be ?????

point taken ..... BUT ..... last year no one thought the Defense would suck ..... this year everyone, including myself, thought the Defense would be at the bottom of the league the entire year and the reason we couldn't / wouldn't win ..... as it stands now ..... we are 3-1 and the one lose I chalk-up to Romo and the offense NOT the Defense ..... I'm not saying they're the best in the league or that they are going to be ..... just that they're MUCH better than I thought they would be and gave them credit for .....

The defense is making stops so far. That's really good. The next 2 games should be interesting. Probably a step up offensively compared to the teams we've played on offense.

Seattle is obviously Defending Champs and very efficient on offense.
New York the last few games has been scoring like crazy. 105 points in their 3 game win streak. Eli Manning has been throwing to his own guys for once.

The two most significant defensive stats are points allowed per drive and defensive pass rating. At least, those are the ones with the highest win correlations.

Currently, we've allowed 1.68 points per drive, which ranks 7th in the NFL. We've allowed opposing QB an 89.8 rating, which ranks 16th.

The points-per-drive ranks of the teams we've faced are 1st, 13th, 21st, 26th, and 27th.

Their pass rating ranks are 14th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, and 27th.

That was a great defensive performance. Really the offense held them to one good drive to start the game and held them to a FG that drive. They scored 20 points off turnovers/poor special teams play really. And it could have been a lot worse than that if not for solid defense. Making the stop on 2 short fields to hold to FG. Which mathematically was the difference between a W and L today. Can't say I really saw that defensive performance coming against such a solid offense.

You got it, on one of the turnovers Seahawks were already in the redzone and defense stepped up and held them to the 3 points. With over 3 min left in the game and a 4 point lead Dallas holds them 4 straight plays to get the ball back.

I honestly think Davis could be the next Romo.

I think by the end of the year he will be STL's clear starter and by the end of 2015 will have himself a nice little payday.

Even though they lost, last week was impressive. Kids got some moxie

People are going to say "its early" and "this means nothing" but I ask those same people, did at ANY point in this season you believe we'd be 11th overall in defense? I know I didn't. I expected us to come out the gate and have to score 30 to win every game. Well, ATLEAST 30.

If you want to look at all the posts that I have made this past season, I had no doubt that this defense this season would not be as bad as last year. I saw that in pre-season.

Now, from being embarrassed last year on defense, all the team needed was the defense to help, the offense will do their thing. And so far the defense is doing their part. They look confident as a team.

Minimal effort? They tried, they just couldnt get into any rythem. Why? Because Dallas controlled the ball, that is until Romo gave it back. Maybe if the offense wouldve done something with the ball in all that time they had it and didnt gift wrap 14 points in the first 10 mins of the game they wouldve won? Because the defense did their job.

its amazing that the defense has done their jobs and gotten it done in the first two games while the offense has looked bad but fans want to focus on the part of the team thats on the upside. Go figure

I agree and disagree. Romo did cost us the game against SF and our blunders almost cost us the game against the Rams. Our defense most certainly kept us in the game.

As for your last statement, I disagree. The defense is ALSO on an upside and its a major strength of this team this year.

You may have felt that way but there was no proof. There was no way a team can have the worst defense in the league last year and then lose Sean Lee, Demarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher and you can think we would improve. Maybe you thought we'd improve simply because you can't do any worse than worst in the league but there was no proof.
