Yeah its really the best balanced teams win Super Bowls. Panthers and Bronco's both have solid offenses. People want to ignore that because of their ferocious defenses but their offenses are just as good.

I don't think you can say they are just as good. Especially in Denver's case. Carolina does have a solid O (11th overall, 1st in points - largely due to defensive turnovers and scores), but Denver is 16th in yards, and 19th in points - a bottom half offense.

Why is he still our DC? He's incompetent and does nothing except drop F bombs on the sideline. He's running an outdated scheme that he won with over a decade with with superior talent than we have now. He never adjusts to what the offense is doing. On 3rd and longs, instead of getting after the QB, he drops back and allows them room and time to get the first down. And he ruses to blitz any. Even though it worked against Washington, he stopped doing it. You have to blitz at times.

Him ignoring the DT position is spot on. He thinks it's not important and you can just rotate any warm body in there and be effective. But our DTs get zero pressure and they can't stop the run at all. We get sliced and diced at all times.

same scheme the Panthers run

Our first 2 picks need to be Myles Jack and Karl Joseph. We can get a 1 tech in free agency and draft one 5th round with a trade up from 6. You dont win a super bowl with barry church or a weak lb core. People overrate how bad the dline is. Sign Ian Williams and Mario Williams/Greg Hardy and the dline is fine. I could look at Lawrence, Williams, Crawford, Mario Williams as a championship unit.

what about the DT spot and the salary cap?

Looking at these Championship games what seems to be a common theme is we need to bolster this Defense to top 5 with a murderers row of a front 7. Even with Denver's safeties out do to injury, because they had pass rush they pulled it off in the end.

looking at any championship games over the past 30+ years tells you the same thing. its the same old formula. control the clock. have a good defense that can create turnovers and get off the field on 3rd downs spells championship in any era.....

What makes you think 2 first round picks would be enough if there's a sure fire QB next year. Which franchise would trade that first pick away without trying to fleece those teams who are desperate for a QB? Just think RG III trade. Imaging trying to get up to #1 for Andrew Luck. AND if you MISS since there's no such thing as a sure thing, you just set this franchise back by 5 years because you mortgage the future.

We are talking first round talent for a grow in place candidate...as to the sky is always falling preppie fall out...handle it.

So you'd do all of that after the offense was the one that underachieved?

Go read up on the thread about fixing the defense and get back to me...beings YOU didn't watch the winners of the AFC and NFC Division Championships yesterday, AND didn't understand what happened there.

Romo is the ticket for the Cowboys right now...period. Play with coulda, woulda, shoulda's all one wishes.

By the way, the 'Dynasty' Cowboys had TWO first round wide receivers...Irvin and Harper.

No one said he is dumb, he just sucks as a head coach. He has even admitted as much.

Ask your Mommie for a sleeve to cry upon...I didn't say a thing about head coach or not. Run along now.

Yep. Yet for so long, we just try and worry about the flashy positions and moves. You don't need great WRs to win. It helps but if you have a good QB, coaching staff and a scheme, you can win. Seahawks never had great WRs. Carolina's top WR went down and they won just fine. Brady won 4 Super Bowls with no real stars at WR or on offense in general. Problem with us, we just rely on our star players win their matchups one on one by themselves. We don't out scheme anyone.

And on our defense for so long, we have ignored our interior of the defense. Our DTs are weak. Our safeties are bad. We have no real pass rush to speak of. People get so glamorized by offense that they think you can cut corners on defense and just have your offense cover up those holes. Until it gets to the playoffs where you need a defense who can make plays, rush the passer and contain the run. We lost last year to GB because we put zero pressure on a gimpy Rodgers. Yes, a good offense will win some games and look exciting at times but that doesn't win in football at the end. Same as baseball. Pitching and defense wins hardware. Without those, you will fold at some point. It's how the Giants beat Brady twice. It's why Denver is here. There offense has been terrible these playoffs.

keep moving the goalposts.

NE won because Brady shredded SEA's vaunted secondary.

It would have been game over had Butler not intercepted the ball. Without patriots defense making that play Seattle wins dude

I think Homefield advantage is being overlooked in this thread.

If you think that means they won the SB BECAUSE of their defense then you are a sandwich short of a picnic.

One play vs a whole season. NE won because of Brady.

CAR has drafted very well the last few years and we have been tied to a lot of the same players. Star, Ealy, Turner, Thompson

We can make a big move next year if Romo stays healthy.

We didn't have an elite defense under Phillips either and at one point he had 8 former 1st round picks on that side of the ball.

The problem is higher up the food chain.

2009 - top 10 against the pass, top 5 against the run, gave up 7 total points in a three week span.

I'm gonna go ahead and say we had a heck of an elite defense in 09.
