looking at any championship games over the past 30+ years tells you the same thing. its the same old formula. control the clock. have a good defense that can create turnovers and get off the field on 3rd downs spells championship in any era.....
Yep. Yet for so long, we just try and worry about the flashy positions and moves. You don't need great WRs to win. It helps but if you have a good QB, coaching staff and a scheme, you can win. Seahawks never had great WRs. Carolina's top WR went down and they won just fine. Brady won 4 Super Bowls with no real stars at WR or on offense in general. Problem with us, we just rely on our star players win their matchups one on one by themselves. We don't out scheme anyone.
And on our defense for so long, we have ignored our interior of the defense. Our DTs are weak. Our safeties are bad. We have no real pass rush to speak of. People get so glamorized by offense that they think you can cut corners on defense and just have your offense cover up those holes. Until it gets to the playoffs where you need a defense who can make plays, rush the passer and contain the run. We lost last year to GB because we put zero pressure on a gimpy Rodgers. Yes, a good offense will win some games and look exciting at times but that doesn't win in football at the end. Same as baseball. Pitching and defense wins hardware. Without those, you will fold at some point. It's how the Giants beat Brady twice. It's why Denver is here. There offense has been terrible these playoffs.
