PFF doesn't have Sean Lee in their top 5 defensive players for Dallas on sunday.

So yes, please keep forcing PFF stats and opinions down everyone's throats.

PPG allowed through 13 games:
2016: 18.3
2014: 23.15
We're holding our opponents to fewer points per game because they aren't getting onto the field as often. That's really more about our offense's TOP than anything else. Defensively, we allow more points per drive now than in 2014.

Opponent Drives per Game
2016: 9.2
2014: 11.2

Points allowed per Drive
2016: 1.97
2014: 1.83

Right now, this defense is NOT good enough to go all the way

Except all of those stats fail in comparison to the holy grail, POINTS ALLOWED. The defense is good enough as long as the offense operates at the elite level they are capable of. Its not pretty but you cant count them out.

Our point allowed are low because we are on the field for a long time. In the playoffs we can and most likely will run in to a defense (NYG/SEA) that wont allow us to operate at an elite level. We need to either 1. Get more sacks/create more pressure or 2. Pass better than the opposing team consistently if we want to make it to the super bowl...

Defense has been playing well. Sacks, turnovers, Pts allowed/gm and getting off the field on 3rd downs are the most important defensive stats. I hope the turnovers they were able to get at Met Life becomes contagious come playoff time. They were getting after Manning pretty well Sunday night also.

Well 45 out of 45 times teams with those stats where key indicators of team good enough to win the Superbowl.

0 out of 45 times did a team that wasn't top-half in sacks, INTs, OR opp. passer rating win the Superbowl.

Pretty happy with the defense the last few weeks. They have been playing their butts off and we know they are not the most talented.

Lee earned his bonus and more as well.

Just kind of crazy that the defense is finding itself when the offense is losing its way.

Yes that is why I tried to explain that our offense will have to operate to its potential. I agree it is a tall order to ask vs NY, Seattle maybe even Tampa or Detroit, fortunately the two defenses that concern me the most have inept offenses. I think the path to the Superbowl is achievable if we can get the offense going again.

with a rookie qb there is no path to the super bowl but that's okay its to late for tony to come in a play now anyway just gowith what we got and live with the results

Its not too late for Romo but I have faith (hope) Dak will rebound. If he doesn't Romo will be back in, you can count on that.

Every time the Dak and Zeke MVP conversations come up, it's Lee who gets my vote.

EDIT: Sorry for the reference to the defense and not mentioning Dak vs. Romo. I was thrown off by the thread title.

Yeah thats pretty damning. I still believe with our offensive line and Zeke and a hopefully efficient Dak we can control TOP enough to limit our exposure. It is also conceivable the defense continues to improve. I know its all alot to ask but that's how I sleep at night lol. I have a real hard time looking at an 11-2 team that managed to beat Washington twice, Phily, GB, Pits and Baltimore and determining they are incapable of going the distance.
