We lost the game because Philadelphia had a much better passing efficiency, which is what determines nearly every modern NFL game.

With a typical Dak NFC East performance we win that game by two scores regardless of what Philly does on the ground.
You know what helps passing efficiency? Running the ball.

A good ground game puts a offense in more third and shorts. A higher third down efficiency puts a offense in the redzone. Picking up yards and gaining first downs always helps a team to win no matter how they do it. Runs, passes, and penalties helps all teams earn a win.

Statistically this is false, and it’s been looked at extensively. Rushing success has almost no correlation whatsoever with how well you throw the ball.

But on a large scale across time you won’t, thus the reason the numbers are what they are.

Kansas City will lose a game every now and then because they couldn’t stop a team from running the clock out. It’s not going to have a significant impact on the course of their season, and in any given game will have virtually no statistical impact on if they win. You can run for 250 yards and still EASILY lose to a great passing team. A great passing team virtually never loses when they have a great passing day. Great rushing days result in losses literally every week because it’s hard to win that way.

i think the disconnect is you comparing us to Kansas City. They have an all time great quarterback who can overcome more mistakes than we can. We don’t have the same leeway. The chiefs can put points up with the best time- this team has a much smaller margin of error.

And for those still interested, there is mountains of data available showing that running the football has both little correlation with winning and has no impact whatsoever on the success of playaction or the passing game in general.

EVEN IN THE PLAYOFFS AND BAD WEATHER GAMES, rushing the ball more efficiently or for more yards than your opponent only gives a slightly over 55% chance to win the game. It’s just above 50% overall, meaning effectively you’re no more or less likely to win based on that factor. If you throw the ball more efficiently AND explosively than your opponent, and again that is independent of rushing ability, you win nearly 90% of the time.

The data is overwhelming and clear

Kansas City is just an easy example because extremes often create the most readily understandable picture for people. The same applies to any team with quality QB play, though. Dallas is MUCH better when Dak throws a lot on first and second down compared to when we run a lot on first and second down. You lying eyes do in fact deceive you.

I love the aggressiveness, and all the negative plays. But the D is being exposed on the ground. I know the game has changed but I don't think you can be a great defense unless you stop the run.
It's a real issue for this team.
