BREAKING NEWS: This is a setup by the league to make QB's throw for less yards so the asking price comes down!!!!! 60 million, who gets 61 million????!
2-5.Thats why teams have no choice but to be held hostage to franchise considered QBs in this current era.
You seem rather slow to the dance on this one.
So, 2-5 is your projected 2014 start of the season?2-5.
No.So, 2-5 is your projected 2014 start of the season?
No.
2-5 is the worst playoff record ever for a QB with at least 5 starts.
Thats why I’m “slow to the dance”.
I think a lot of it has to do with it being the weakest the QB position has been in forever.
Elway, Farve, Kelly, Aikman, Marino, and Young transitioned to Brady, Rodgers, Manning, and Brees.
Today it’s Mahomes and nobody else.
Easier said than done.......especially with a $50M+ QB. You are not paying him this kind of $$$ to hand off to a player making less than $10M in some cases.
I Honestly this is part of the issues with some .........especially with some of the mobile QBsPart of the value these QBs should be bringing is in being able to diagnose a defense and check out of a bad play

i'm slow too, i'll believe it when I see it!!!!!!
I agree G.......but remember the thread is about why so many QBs are checking down. You play... to win the game! - Herm Edwards
If you win games, do you think fans care about how the game is won? If you win games, do you think fans care about players salaries or what players did after victories?
And Mahomes is not immune. He has 4 300+ yard games dating back to the beginning of the the 2023 regular season (5 if you include the playoffs).I think a lot of it has to do with it being the weakest the QB position has been in forever.

Why? Several teams won last week with their QB (even some highly paid ones) struggling to throw for 150 yards. So far (Any yes its extremely early) good teams with game manager QBs are racking up the Ws. If the trend continues it'll likely be a reason for teams to play hardball with these QB contracts and focus on building the run game and defense.Thats why teams have no choice but to be held hostage to franchise considered QBs in this current era.

younger qb's have come in the league after Dak has been here and have had more success, how do you diagnose that?Well Herbert and Lawrence have incredibly high max contracts as well.... but they haven't even won a single playoff game.
So how do you diagnose those situations?
Bingo! I'm not sure we name 5 RBs that scare defensive coor to the point of altering their gameplan.I also think it also has to do with the downfall or running games.
Back in the day. A defense wouldn’t dream of keeping 2 safeties back deep when they have guys like Emmitt smith, Terrell Davis, edgerrin James, etc toting the rock. Those RB’s would have 25 carries for 150 yards every game if a defense tried that on them.
+1 .If the trend continues it'll likely be a reason for teams to play hardball with these QB contracts and focus on building the run game and defense.
The run game is a product of the expensive QB - aka the passing game. When teams are playing 2-high 60% of the time it is because they fear the passing game.Easier said than done.......especially with a $50M+ QB. You are not paying him this kind of $$$ to hand off to a player making less than $10M in some cases.
I think this is an issue and a lot of it starts with the state of the college game right now. In a lot of ways the jump from college to pro QB has been made easier, however many QBs are just running plays and looking to the sidelines to be told what adjustments to make presnap.I Honestly this is part of the issues with some .........especially with some of the mobile QBs
somewhat, and it puts a premium on pass rushers and schemes to attack QB.I wonder if there is any correlation to the league devaluing the RB position. In other words, defenses generally don't respect the running so they are keeping everything in front of them and daring teams to run. Not sure about this .....just curious
