"Quarterbacks completed an astounding 67.1 percent of their passes against the Cowboys – second highest in the NFL – with a passer rating of 94.1, largely thanks to Dallas’ lack of interceptions (nine)." Good for 26th in the league in passing yards allowed

Ugh, could you imagine how much different last season could have went with a decent defense/secondary. Pretty amazing we went 13-3 with that defense. I'm excited that they blew up the secondary.

The issues wasn't entirely the secondary. You kinda just had to watch the games to see what the problem was.

I have no idea why our fans give the limited talent on defense a pass no matter what. It never gets more than lip service, but it's the primary reason our last two postseasons were ended.

Without a pass rush, quarterbacks complete more passes. Not quite shocking.

The lack of an effective pass rush put an extraordinary amount of pressure on the secondary to contain opposing receivers last season. I'm hoping that both the pass rush and the secondary will respond significantly better by no later than midseason.

With the number of quality QBs that the Cowboys will be facing this year, our defensive emphasis upon improving our pass rush and coverage was, without question, something that had to be resolved. The talent is there, it just needs to be developed to sufficiently improve.

Yep. Defense wins AND loses the big games. In Dallas, during the Jones era, the focus from the FO has always been on the Offense and sizzle ...this seems to have filtered its way into the fans logic.

Thats my feeling also. Expecting a slow start and a strong finish. That only makes sense everything considered.

People can't say the FO hasn't tried to put talent on D. They've tried, it just hasn't worked out due to issues or injuries (Hardy, Gregory, McClain, Lawrence, Mo). They've used resources with not as much success as they've had on offense.

Hopefully Brown, Collins, Jaylon and this year's class change that for us.

It's time to get that defense at an elite level.

Because "Garrett had been building the TEAM" for 6 years so most fans assume that it had been built

Garrett apologists like yourself spent years telling us how he was trying to build the offense (laughable idea of course that he had any significant input into personnel but let's roll with this fantasy for now). So the offense yook 6 years to 'almost complete' with the complete blind luck drafting of Dak (otherwise we would be hoping and praying that tony can remain upright)

Now, Let's wait another 6 years for him to "build the defense" and then he can start again on the offense which will have been depleted by then

Rinse and repeat

The front office has tried but it hasn't worked out. Between the money paid to T. Crawford as hopeful star DL, drafting Lawrence(2nd and 3rd) and taking a gamble on Gregory (2nd), you'd hope at least one of those guys would've panned out as expected. We're singing a different tune about this defense if we could comfortably pencil either of these guys in for 8-10+ sacks as they were expected to produce by now.

With no pass rush and rookie defensive backs to pick on look for that number to get worse.

Better check and see where the Cowboys finished last year with their pass rush. Here is a hint: About middle of the pack. Not exactly in "no pass rush" area at all. Additionally they have added Taco and will get Tapper and Jaylon on the field so there is no question the pass rush will be better this year.

I already know where the Cowboys pass rush ranked. Middle of the pack doesn't cut it. And Jaylon and Tapper are unknowns.Taco is a rookie. Rookie defensive ends rarely make an impact. But I do hope I'm dead wrong. But I'm right more times than not .

They play a bend but don't break style. That results in a lot of yards.

Dallas was 5th in points per game allowed. That's 5th in the entire league.
