Deforest Buckner

It is code for ignore the fact that he is basically approaching Bobby Carpenter territory and that since he was a lowly 28th overall pick you should not have expected much from him anyway.

The 30th pick seems to be doing OK.

The saddest part is that this team is desperate for anybody to emerge at that RDE spot. They've shoved Crawford there for crying out loud!

If not for some pass rush juice opposite Lawrence, maybe just for someone to know how to contain an outside run?

It's one of the weakest positions on the defensive line (along with 1-tech), and Taco is still no factor.

If Tapper wasn't lost (again!) to IR, they would have faced an interesting dilemma on whether to even have Charlton active.

To my knowledge they were activating Taco over Tapper. Then it seems like right afterward Taco got hurt.

You're right. They were. But it obviously wasn't based on production, but on perception. And the fear of what it would look like if their 1st round pick was inactive.

Tapper getting hurt again saved them from having to make that decision.

I don't know...it may very well be based on perception.....but they also drafted Tapper......seems like it would be a nice boost for them to have hit on yet another player from that draft.

I honestly don't know what happened with Tapper. I hope he wasn't being inactive because they wanted to justify drafting Taco. But you never know.

There are only so many gameday active roster spots. When Damontre Moore came back, one of the defensive ends had to sit. That ended up being Tapper. And not because Charlton outplayed him in any way.

When Irving was set to come back, that likely meant another end would be made inactive. Fortunately for public perception, Tapper went on IR that same week, freeing them of a hard choice.

Yeah but didn't Tapper break his foot?

Yes. That was the week Irving was coming back and they put Tapper on IR and Irving simply slid into that spot on the 53.

But now that you mention it, I think it may have been Noah Brown that ended up losing his active gameday status along the way.
