Not only that, play-action was a staple of Norv Turner... He made safeties bite... This guy Garrett, very rarely runs play-action and safeties just sitback all day, taking away the deep route that Garrett kepps forcing the ball to...

Ed Reed was just standing 30 yards back all day. What kind of offensive coordinator lets that happen. At least bring him up.

made some nice adjustments last week vs the super bowl champs. he is still learning how to be a OC.

And he didn't use a single one of those 'adjustments' against the ravens... BTW, he had moments, but he also went back to his old self, almost getting Romo killed...

we had some guys open, for most of the game the QB either didnt see them or threw an awful pass...

no excuse to lose this way

NO Im saying it takes TIME to become a good NFL Coach. Garrett has very little time as a coach in any level.

So he shouldn't be coaching this team then... Why is he an OC and Asisatnt Head Coach? Brain Stewart got stripped of his duties...

According to your logi, we need to bare with his scrubby play-calling for 6 or 7 years...

I remember the last time a "Legendary" LB said something like this about our offense. It was 1989... Lawrence Taylor said we had the most "Predictable" offense in the NFL.

Something tells me 3 superbowl wins won't come in the next 6 years this time.

I'm glad this game was on NFL network which btw has the best commentary on TV. It was nice hearing Marshall analyze and totally rip on the Cowboys offensive gameplan. It proves the point as to where the problem on this team lies.

We always have 'guys' open... But an OC has to see the whole field... There are guys open on CB blitzes... Defenses do it for a reason...

I think I've figured out Garrett

he's one of those system guys, that sticks with it no matter what, and when he has to adjust, he'll do it enough to where it works, but then goes back to his system

his is a vertical, timing-based passing offense, except for Romo isn't being given the type of time to be successful at it, the guy is just not Aikman, I don't know why Garrett is asking him to run that system

"Open" in the NFL at the end of the play is not really open. It means the play was practically over at that point and the QB was taken out of his read.

Austin was wide open. Hit that and its a whole nother game.

Our 'simple' game plan in the 90s is nothing like the simplicity now..

We ran effective play-action and, while play-action is simple, effective play-action is not predictable...

Similar comments were made last year. This offense was likened to street-ball by certain commentators. This offense only plays well when they free-lance and they are rushing to get plays off. Like I said, Garrett doesn't systematically attack any defense he is playing against. They play every defense the same way, and as Deion and Faulk pointed out, teams have simply been playing cover-2 man on them all year. Garrett hasn't adjusted.

He is way over his head... People think that because he went to Princeton, he is a bright mind... Uh, Princeton isn't a football school...

X2, Ginger has been well and truly figured out.

Sweet option play, ginge. That worked out wonderfully.

Looks like Sparano was the real brains of the offense. its too bad we let him and his creative offense go to Miami... Seriously when is the last time we ran a trick play, a freakin flea flicker for example????

I can't remember the play exactly, but he was probably open because Romo scrambled and the defense broke down.

We had a running game in the 90s. A good, CONSISTENT running game.

We don't have that now.

Putting all the blame on Garrett is ignorance. Yes, he's part of the problem. But Garrett isn't making the QB throw up jump balls to Ed Reed.

Last time was when Crayton threw that deep bomb, that almost got picked off.

we dont have a consistent running game because Garrett uses the running game sporadically

Next time you watch this offense, count how man times Garrett runs play-action, especially in the first 3 quarters... It is astonishing that Garrett doesn't run play-action to make safeties bite... Safeties just sit back all day, not worried about the run...

A timing-based offense is predicated on an effective play-action... We have none... plus, we don't really have any timing... this offense is predicated on Romo keeping plays alive with his feet, long enough for a WR to get behind the CB to chuck it... When you take away that with safety help over the top, this offense goes into the tank...

Romo is accurate at short-range, and Garrett doesn't exploit that...

No, it isn't.

We have a good consistent running game.

Tashard Choice is playing very well.

This is even more obvious when you take into account that he has faced probably the 2 best defenses in the NFL back to back.
