Looks like Sparano was the real brains of the offense. its too bad we let him and his creative offense go to Miami... Seriously when is the last time we ran a trick play, a freakin flea flicker for example????
instead of we Owens running end arounds on 3rd and 2's!

Next time you watch this offense, count how man times Garrett runs play-action, especially in the first 3 quarters... It is astonishing that Garrett doesn't run play-action to make safeties bite... Safeties just sit back all day, not worried about the run...

A timing-based offense is predicated on an effective play-action... We have none... plus, we don't really have any timing... this offense is predicated on Romo keeping plays alive with his feet, long enough for a WR to get behind the CB to chuck it... When you take away that with safety help over the top, this offense goes into the tank...

Romo is accurate at short-range, and Garrett doesn't exploit that...

Garrett also doesn't exploit Romo's effectiveness against the blitz, still waiting to see a slant route...

but Garrett's system doesn't call for one

"Open" in the NFL at the end of the play is not really open. It means the play was practically over at that point and the QB was taken out of his read.

I dont know what the hell you were looking at most of the game then, because I saw guys open all over in the secondary...some plays more than one guy was open

Tashard Choice is playing very well.

This is even more obvious when you take into account that he has faced probably the 2 best defenses in the NFL back to back.

Off the shotgun spread formation delay draw no less. lol

We had a running game in the 90s. A good, CONSISTENT running game.

We don't have that now.

Putting all the blame on Garrett is ignorance. Yes, he's part of the problem. But Garrett isn't making the QB throw up jump balls to Ed Reed.

1. We have a consistent running game, because of our play-calling... Norv never went away from it, no matter what.

2. It is Garrett's problem, because it is happening week in and week out. Garrett hasn't done anything to reign his QB in, and he is still calling those plays. That pass to Owens where he lost it in the lights, Romo broke free of clear pressure. Our blocking schemes with Garrett's play calling downright pathetic....

3. Roy Williams and Crayton don't sniff the ball at all, until this team runs the hrry up offense and this offens relies more on free-lancing then coaching... How many times does Romo go to Garrett in the sidelines after Romo allegedly forces it to TO? They both look at photos, and yet again, the next drive, they don't go to the other WRs...

And I suppose Marshall Faulk was wrong in saying receivers couldn't get any separation and ripping on the Cowboys gameplan. Remember distances are shorter than they appear.

Sure we do.

Tashard Choice has been excellent.

A good consistent running game would have picked up a first down on 3rd and inches.

Sorry, his stats are a bit "inflated" due to a long run here and there. He's been excellent FOR A ROOKIE, but it doesn't mean our running game has been consistently good.

Julius Jones made a killing off of that his rookie year when he was putting up 200+ games.

Not sure what the difference is between getting a Touchdown in Shotgun or in I-Formation.

No, it isn't.

Yes, it is... And again, our offense is nothing like the 90s where play-action was a staple of this offense... We systematically took yardage over and over again, until the 4th came, where we just pounded other teams into submission...

This offense is the exact opposite of Norv Turner..

We will have to agree to disagree Rack.

I don't think the running game is the problem.

As Deion stated during the game, there is no excuse for the Cowboys to still allow Terrell Owens to be doubled teamed when Roy Williams is lined up on the other side.

I think the problem lies with the play calling.

It means the defense isn't scared of your running game from the I-formation (which is traditionally used on running downs). That means the defense is not scared of you running the ball on 1st and 2nd down, meaning you have no threat of opening up the playaction pass, and they can keep 7 in the box and worry about defending the pass.

Garrett is like Martz, not Norv Turner...

And guess what?

It is no coincidence that Detroit's offensive line looked absolutely pathetic with Marts...

Been saying this the last 6 games. We are so offensively challenged as of late and have to much talent for it to make any sense.

If you go back and look at the game and the Pittsburgh game, you will see we had success running in other formations outside Shotgun.

Also, as I stated, we played the top 2 defenses in the NFL back to back and that has to be taken into account.

I think Romo would feast on defenses in a West Coast offense...

I remember some posts about how Romo had such an incredible release, it was ridiculous... His ability to thread it into tight places has always been praised..

I don't understand how Garrett doesn't try to get him in rhythm... His INTs are usually when he isnt in rhythm, and he tries to hard to make a play...
