I keep reading these reports about the Roy Williams trade and how it was a desperate move by a panicking team in response to a weekend of turmoil from injuries, a suspended player and another tough loss.
Deion's statements were the best on NFL Network when he said, "This move screams panick to me. Dallas is acting in desperation. Why would they get RW when Chad Johnson has been in Cincy begging to get out and T.J. Houshmandzadeh is a chain-mover and that's all you need on the other side of T.O. You don't need another big play receiver, T.O. is your big play receiver. Maybe Romo should try and the ball out quicker and more often."
Deion is, has always been and always will be an idiot.
First off, "why do you need another big play receiver?" in the same statement as "why didn't you get Chad Johnson" makes no sense. Which is it Deion? They don't need one or they should get one if it's your boy Ocho Stinko? Just because you haven't cozied up with RW yet because he's been a bland Detroit Lion, and you haven't seen any way that being his friend would help you re-enter the spotlight of relevance, doesn't mean he's not good. He's better than 85 (who's career is over) and Housh (who can't score from anywhere except the endzone or w/o at least 12 catches a game) and when you figure that out you'll be acting like you guys have been best friend for years.
Secondly, it's humorous that everyone thinks this trade is the result of this past week's events. Seriously? Jerry Jones said yesterday that he has been trying to get this deal done for 2 years! He spoke about the specific times in which the idea has been visited by the 2 clubs on multiple occasions over the last 2 years. He didn't draft or sign another wide receiver and wanted a "wow" player all offseason. It's obvious the timing of this is just coincidental and that he was attempting to make this happen for a long time. Besides, since when do trades like these occur anytime except in the final moments of the trade deadline? The answer is never. Do you really think this kind of a deal can get done in simply a few days of a panicked state? When was the last time a team 'panicked' and turned it into a big name, mid-season trade? Once again, never. It just doesn't work that way.
