*** Demarco Murray Thread ***

Nice.

The real comparison is Chris Johnson vs. Matt Forte.

One is a greedy piece of crap who held out. The other went about his business, worked hard, and is among the best running backs in the league this year.
No kidding. Forte has almost 1100 yards of offense in 7 games.

What a fantastic player he's become.

lol, no need to crap on his performance by pointing out who we were playing.. The kid ran hard & was great, BOTTOM LINE

Last I checked we've been playing bad teams every year since we started. This is the best rushing total we've ever had.

You have to tip your cap to that.

He needed a big game. I was starting to worry about his confidence playing behind this line.

It's a shame Felix is injured a lot because I do like him. I hope they find a way to get rid of Choice and bring in Tanner for third back. I always pushed for Choice but just can't trust him.

Congrats Murray

It was sarcasm, dude.....

Picked him up on my fantasy team. Gave me 31 points. Love the way he runs. Tanner looked great too. Choice needs a one way ticket, sorry to say.

Emmitt didn't have a contract when he "held out." He honored every contract he ever signed.

Chris Johnson was under contract for two more years and chose not to honor his contract.

Huge difference.

so are the cowboys "pieces of crap" for not honoring gurode's contract, asking him to restructure?

Hugely impressed with DeMarco Murray, but I'm really upset that, with Murray only 44 yards away from the NFL all-time record for most rushing yards in a game (296 yards, set by Adrian Peterson four years ago), that the Cowboys coaching staff didn't try to aim for the record.

How often do you get that close to the record? This is an opportunity that comes only once in 10 or 20 years. Even inside the two minute warning, we should have used all our timeouts, pounding the ball with Murray, spiking the ball, doing everything we could to give him, say, ten more carries with which to grind out those 44 more yards.

44 yards.
That's all we were talking about.

idk might risk a meaningless injury. I wonder what his stat line would of been if he could of scored on that other long run when he just went down.

please stop being such a debbie downer! you're ruining the party!
Yeah, he's a fount of football insight whom we all genuflect to.

So true.

Felix Jones can FINALLY be used as a special utility player like he should have been.

If we do not do that he will not be effective/useful for us when we need him.

Just remember it was against the worst rush defense in the NFL. Impressive yes, but lets keep it in perspective.

Yes. Lets see progress... thats all I ask.

Notice a real RB in Murray, how he sets up his blocks and is patient waiting on his OL. He doesn't just grab the ball and run to the play. He's patient and lets things develop for a second before making his move.

That is a true RB. You guys are going to love DMurray the more he plays. He's a guy you give the ball to early and ride him ALL GAME LONG.

kinda like another ex-Dallas RB we all know and love

so was emmitt a fat piece of crap when he held out thru the regular season?

i hate when fans like you sit on your couch and speak on issues you have no clue about. you are not in his shoes, so you wouldn't understand he is looking out for his family in the long run by getting some financial security while playing a sport and a position that could end his ability to provide for his family any second.

99% of us would do the exact same thing in his position.
Emmitt didn't have a contract.

While what Murray did today was impressive, we really need to make sure we keep it in perspective. It was ONE game against statistically one of the worst run defenses in the modern era.

I REALLY want to believe I was wrong and he is our next good to great back, but I'll need to see more from him first.

Damn good day for Murray. He lived up way passed my expectations. Just impressive in every sense of the word. Even Tanner was great too. I love those two RBs. TC is done.

We have more important things to worry about than somebody getting a record. That TD from Romo to Dez was huge in terms of getting those two some confidence together. Props to Garrett for calling that play when the temptation must have been to run it up the gut and kick the FG.

2004 - Julius Jones versus the Bears and Seahawks. I would think those games would make us learn that a game, or even a couple games, do not make a player. Need to slow down on the enthusiasm around here.

Regardless, Demarco put on an amazing performance today and deserves full credit for that.

Two different types of running backs. Julius got his big runs by juking and making players miss, then running to day light. We soon found out that when the juke doesn't work, he goes down on first contact. Murray finds holes, runs over people and then runs to daylight.

Great performance by Murray. I'm not taking out the anointing oil yet but he definitely earned himself a more prominent role.

I have to admit, I was one of those who thought he was drafted at least a full round to early. He made me eat some crow and I love it.

I wish more people could do what you did right here. Big of you to own up to it. I expected him to be good but I ad admit I never saw this coming. It does not matter who it was against, every back plays bad run defenses in their careers. It was still a very good day.

What impressed me is he did not go down easy at all, he fought for extra yards. That first run was set up by a great block from our sorely missed FB but then Murray made a nice move to get past the safety.

Tanner looked just like he did in preseason. Holland did a nice job too. I think a combo of Jones/Murray with Tanner as the 3rd will do just fine going forward.

It will be interesting to see who starts between Holland and Dockery because Holland looked pretty dang good. He was pulling and moving well and while I did not watch him every play, when I did he was very good.

It will be a little better test next week against a better team for he and Murray.
