*** Demarco Murray Thread ***

ONe thing that I was impressed was how hard he ran. Alot of his runs were pushing the pile for 4-5 yards type of runs.

I know it's only one game and Julius comparison is valid but I don't remember Julius having many moving piles for 5 yard type of runs.

I like Felix Jones.....but I think Murray's earned a starting role.

Felix can be very dangerous as a third down, change of pace back. He's also great on KO returns.

Speed, speed, speed, speed....how long has it been since we had that at RB?
I'm a big Felix fan but I have to agree. Murray is my starter until he gives me a reason to do otherwise.

Tanner had a few of those too. Yay Tanner!

Just remember it was against the worst rush defense in the NFL. Impressive yes, but lets keep it in perspective.

It's "in perspective". Add this to your "perspective".....In St. Louis' first five games,the top rusher was:
Philadelphia game- McCoy @122 yds.;
Giants game- Bradshaw @ 59 yds;
Baltimore game- Rice @ 81 yds;
Washington game- Torain @ 135 yds.;
Green Bay game- Jackson (Their own guy) @ 96 yards.

All I'm saying is that if they are SOOOOO BAD,how come the opposing rushers listed above didn't light 'em up for a lot more?

was terrific today. Let him play out the season before anointing him the featured back. The one thing that's clear is that Felix cannot be " that " featured back. He's a heck of a player, and a terrific runner as well, but he's not, nor will he'll ever be, a work horse. Let's see if DeMarco is that guy. Personally, I think he needs to take a page from Emmitt's book and try to avoid contact whenever possible. Not shy away from it, but try to avoid it. He'd have a longer career if he does.

Maybe he could become another Arian Foster. Perhaps Red should try to incorporate a few " cut back/zone run blocking " plays into his system to accomodate him.

If you take away his 91 yarder, he still rushed for more yards against them than any other back this year.

Another stat for comparison sake:
  • Felix has 255 yards all season
  • Murray had 253 today
  • Murray is now the team leader with 324 yards

It's not a debate who starts.

Felix will be out for a few more weeks, Choice can't hold onto the ball. Murray is the starter, and I'm sure Tanner will get Choice's carries the next game and beyond until Felix comes back.

I thought we would run for a lot of yards today, and it was predominantly because of the return of Tony Fiametta and the excellent play of Montrae Holland. Holland looks almost nimble now. Fiametta had the key block on the 91-yard TD run.

It looks like Murray still has that special talent of being able to cut without losing much speed. On the 91-yarder and the 43-yarder, he displayed that unusual ability.

What did we learn today?

We learned DeMarco Murray is better than Emmitt Smith.

Emmit? Bro he makes Barry Sanders, look like a Drunk Duck

That Long run was a thing of Beauty. I'm excited hopefully it's more than a one or two season thing. Now next week give it to Murray and run until the Iggles prove that they can stop the run.

As for the comparsion talk about a waste of money on CJ. If you're going to ask for more than you should earn it by performing and CJ hasn't

Notice that's a pretty tough schedule St Louis has endured too.

Murray was very impressive. I've been impressed and convinced by backs in the past though! I was convinced by both Julius Jones and Marion Barber.

Hey, remember when Skip Peete didn't know what he was talking about?

No? Here is a reminder.

I've had a DeMarco Murray jersey and I'm proud of it. Didn't think he was going off for 253, no one did. But I did expect a big game from him. And we got it.

The 2 long runs were great! I was more impressed with the way he moves the pile and moves the chains. I love RBs that can be counted on to move the markers. When you have a RB that can consistently do that then they really help the entire offense get in a rhythm.

So you're saying since opposing teams' rushers didn't run for 200+ against the Rams, that 122 yards (McCoy) and 135 yards (Torian) is something to sneeze at?

Gimmie a break.

It was a great day by Murray, but let's not act the Rams are the Steel Curtain. The Rams were ranked last in the entire league against the run before today and definitely cemented their place there with today's performance.
