Bad contract, but not as bad as I expected, particularly on the gtd, and we're not looking at a holdout snafu.

It is what it is. Hope for the best. Get the shoulder fixed and stay healthy.

ha ha! Now that we signed him, we can trade him! That would be funny.

Im not really up on how these contracts work but ive always wondered why dont teams give them more money in year 1 and then less money in the following years. Since we have a good bit of cap this year why not give him most of his money this year so next year his cap would be alot less for zak/zeke contracts?

So does the team pay for his surgery through an insurance plan or does he pay for it, i.e., self insured?

AAV matters dude

3x21= 63m.... he got 65m gtd..... it is all connected
AAV is like the last thing agents care about. It's gtd,l at signing, practical guaranteed and 3 year haul that is important.

It's why Dlaw could demand 20 AAV and Cowboys come back with 22 AAV and the talks be characterized as "far apart."

Just learn from this.

Not I. Dlaw's past 2 years have been double-digit sack seasons, a feat that hasn't been achieved since our great DeMarcus Ware did it in 2011 and 2012, and he achieved it while battling through a torn labrum.

For our posters who wanted to trade Dlaw, stick that one in your pipe and smoke it. :p
Pipe??? I've been looking for mine for 20 minutes, someone must've snuck in here and snatched it while I was opening another bag of Cheeto's

Live off $1 million a year, invest the rest, never work another day in your life - rather, work without having to worry about getting paid.

hmm I forgot that dallas traded with the skins to get dlaw.

from espn.com

The Cowboys traded up in the second round with an NFC East rival, the Washington Commanders, to take Lawrence with the 34th overall pick in 2014.

Like that his big hit is year 1.
It makes the most sense. Kick the can contracts are not something we should be looking into right now, no matter how much cap space we forecast.

I've been around football all my life. This cat played great when his contract was coming up. Let's hope he doesn't get to comfy with his money and security.
He played well before that.
He was just either injured, or suspended then.

Hopefully we get him for 16 games. Seems like once guys get big deals they turn injury prone lol.

30m SB................... 65m gtd

2019- 1.1m base................cap hit 7.1m
2020- 16m base.................cap hit 22m(restructured down with voidable years)
2021- 17m* base................cap hit 23m
2022- 20m base.................cap hit 26m
2023- 20m base.................cap hit 26m

*guarantees in March 2020

We got enough cap room left this year. Don't we want to front load say $20 million this year so his cap hit is less next 2-3 years which allows us to sign Dak, Zek and Coop?

being reported more cash then any deal orther then QBs. This means big signing bonus.
