I think he played ok, got some pressure on Palmer and played the run decently. Like others have said, he seemed to get gassed as the game went on but that is to be expected in his first game.

I saw that mouth open after a few plays. Once he gets more playing time he'll be more effective.

I was surprised how well he seemed to play the run. A few pressures but he was able to stack and shed on the run better than I expected.

me too. he read plays well and he did get some pressure. i thought he played pretty solid for a rookie in his first game with virtually no training camp

played well against the run, made a nice play on the stunt early in the game. What I think he lacked was a burst and dip move. He needs to get his legs under him with the added weight

He's a rookie who missed pretty much all of training camp, all of preseason and the first 8 games of the regular season. Did you really think he could come into an NFL game and have an impact? He's not even used to the speed of the game yet.

He played well. Considering he didn't have a training camp, hasn't played in months, and just got healthy; I think he did fine. Arizona's LT is no scrub either. Veldheer is a great young LT.

My initial thought was 'damn that dude is big.' I expected him to look like Manziel in a linemens number after reading about him on here.

Same here. I'm thinking he was the "tweener" size. He looks just as big as most DE's out there if not bigger.
He's probably around 255-260 right now. If he can get to and STAY at 260, that size should be fine in this system. Pair him with a reliable LE that has pass rushing prowess, and he'll e fine. I like Nate Orchard from Utah in next year's draft to fill that role. They list him at 255 right now, but he looks like he's 265.
They've said he's added 15 pounds of muscle. So if that's the case....he very well may be 265.
I hope he can play with the added weight and didn't lose any quickness or speed.

Looked good in limited action. I say we still add another first round talent speed rusher in the draft and move Lawrence to LDE. Looks strong enough and impressive against run. He is quick not Demarcus Ware quick but with the added bulk at LDE, I can see him doing great things.

I'm happy with way he played. We would have killed them if romo played. Our defense held us in the game. Demarcus played decent for his first game. I'm excited to see him against the jags oline

Rookie's first game. No impact. No unexpected. Hoping he gets better.

But considering he was 2 draft picks ... couldn't he have morphed into another player on some of those plays ???

ok so which one of you is right? I am serious...

He had a few pressures and did a solid job in the run game on his side. I was happy with his play. You could tell they got more pressure and he was apart of that

I know what I saw. He was very good against the run and had a couple of pressures. For his first game there is some good to build on. Sample size was small

Thanks. I watched him specifically on one play. He contributed to stuffing the run.

The I got mad and couldn't see straight for rest of game.

I think this thread nailed most of the conversation. Strong against the run, needs to get off the snap WAY faster, good stunt work. Taking on a tackle he needs some technique work. If you aren't going to charge the OL shoulder, then bull rush. Right now it looks like he's just trying to run forward.

You didn't catch any of the pressure? I did notice we got more push on the edges this last game. They seemed to be around Palmer all game

I'm curious if that is from not trusting the foot fully yet

The only thing I didn't care for with the defense was their redzone work. I think they could have done a better job there. Otherwise, this loss rests at the feet of a certain red haired man.

I like that he seems to track the ball well. It'll be fun watching him develop.
