Living in Denver there are a lot of people here who think Thomas was dogging it the last few games last year not to get hurt since he had a big payday coming. He dropped a significant amount of easy passes like bubble screens and had a weak year in comparison to his prior years. He's a very big target which make him attractive however honestly I do not think Thomas is top 5 at his position and Dez is much more effective overall. Denver/Elway usually does not "overpay" and I'm very surprised by the offer but then again they know much more about their options than we do.
It's coming down to crunch time. Gitter done Jones family !!

And some people insist that wide receivers aren't the "divas" of the NFL. I'm sorry, but I call it like I see it. The fact that some of these non-franchise-QBs feel like they're worth upwards of about 1/6 or 1/7 of a team's salary cap is insane.

Sir, this is one player I would sign and walk the full trail with. You either stand by your men, or they are employees.

I have to believe that Jerry will walk with this one, and Stephen may have to come around some...

I think that it is all simple posturing. I remain confident that they will have a deal in place before the deadline tomorrow.

That's about what's fair for both parties. Give dez 30 mil guaranteed 6-7 years 70ish million. He wants more than don't know what else to say. There's more than 3 other wrs that outperform him not including johnson.

You think Dez is going to sign for 10 million a year? I want whatever your smoking bro

Once Romo leaves .....

Not sure what you are getting at but if you are implying that Dez won't be anything once Romo leaves then think again if that is what you are implying. Thomas greatly benefits from playing with Peyton like a lot of receivers/TE's have all the way back to the beginning with the Colts. He also benefits from playing with very good receivers/TEs(Welker, Sanders, Thomas) who aren't able to double him or try to take him out of the game.

We've walked this road with Jerry, way back with Emmitt Smith and Troy Aikman contracts in the same season.

Now, we need track record involving Stephen at the helm.

I agree, this one should be in hand.

And if it isn't? He'll either sit out or not. It makes no difference either way -- this team will roll on, particularly with an improved defense.

I have to call it closer to the hip...NCO.

The receivers on board, without Dez Bryant, just aren't proven enough to carry the current fight coming down the road. But defense will progressively make it's own mark. With or without Dez.

I think we are balanced enough on offense now with the best offensive line in football and a myriad of skill players that we can still score points and win football games.

In what way was Demaryius' year weaker than his prior seasons? He had career highs in both receptions and yards.

I think that Dez will certainly not be worth the 13 Million or whatever the contract is, after Tony hangs it up. Chances are, the Cowboys will not be able to afford a good QB in FA (just so expensive) and it takes time to draft a guy, even if that QB has what it takes to make it in the NFL, and bring him along. The couple years it probably takes to develop a QB brings Dez to the end of his prime. No, I don't think Dez will be worth the contract, after Tony hangs it up. JMO

While i agree with most of your statements, Dez will also make that transition for a young QB easier. Dez is one of those guys that even if the QB misses, he can still range and find a way to pull it down. That is great for a young qb to build his confidence. Will he be worth what hes making at that point? Probably not, but i do think he brings a lot to the table to help groom a new QB in the NFL. Maybe im wrong

We are no where near balanced enough on offense to win games without Dez, especially missing Murray. Dez commands double teams, 95 percent of the game. This is why our offense looks so balanced. You take him out of the equation and our passing game lands in the bottom half of the league and Romo ends up doing to much on his own again, and bam we are right back where we started. This is detrimental in so many ways its scary

Wow you've got it all figured out. Or maybe the Cowboys will be able to afford a good QB in FA or draft a good QB.

I think it really depends on how many years Tony has. I kind think (barring injury) Tony has a good 4 years left, assuming he stays healthy. I think the window on Dez is probably 5 years. This is not to say that he will be retiring in 5 years but I do believe that his health will likely allow him to play at a very high level for another 5 years. Perhaps he can go longer, maybe not, I don't know. I think after that, we see diminishing returns on big contracts. While I think Dez could help a younger QB, I don't think its likely that he will. If Dez is still playing in 5 years or so, I think it's much more likely that Dez is trying to finish his career trying to win another championship. I don't think it's as likely that Dez will be signing up to develop another young QB. That's just my own personal guess on it. Who really knows?

Dez is better all round threat than D. Thomas, I do not know if its gameplan or what but thomas seems to score from outside the 20 than he does when the team is inside the 20. Bu that could be the J. Thomas effect

None of what you said is rooted in fact.
