Guyton has arm/hand size, agility, size in height and girth, and foot quickness. He'll learn anticipation and adjustments. He is a strong player that will grow.Im
Not trying to make a hot take, but moving Guyton back to the right side (his college position) and letting Asim play LT might be better than Guyton at LT and Steele at RT
He was actually below average. He was passable, and given that he prepared for LG and not LT, that was a triumph. But he was a below average LT
What happened to position flex?Which you shouldn't, because they are keeping him at LG
I'm way more confident that the offensive line will gel quicker than the defensive line.https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/depth-chart-where-things-stand-at-offensive-tackle
Over the next few weeks, the DC writers will discuss depth chart for the position groups.
Yes, players have been discussed many times already. But this will be from the writers with possiblysome different takes, and catches thoughts. As the team added over 30 players to the roster this off-season.
BS said the best 5 will start, as all coaches say that anyway.
First up, the OT's
Its a stupid idea when you are talking about your startersWhat happened to position flex?
The OT position has me a bit worried. Your 2 best are Guyton and Steele with unproven guys behind them. This is a big IF the Cowboys have to hit on if they want to go deep in the playoffs.https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/depth-chart-where-things-stand-at-offensive-tackle

Barring injury Guyton and Steele will be the tackles. I did think Richard played solid in the snaps he got last year. But the first rnd pick is starting the season at LTSchotty has zero authority to bench or move Guyton. Right or wrong, Jerry will make that decision. There's no way Jerry will give up on him at LT after only 1 year.
Now, Brian Schottenheimer has said numerous times this offseason that the five best offensive linemen will start
Fans remember the penalties more than anything but forget smith had a lot of penalties at tackle too. LT in the nfl is a tough position and switching from RT to LT isn’t easy. The footwork is different. Guyton issue was most strength and technique. Hopefully both have improvedHe was not a top 10 left tackle. He was a top 10 guard his second season though. Donald was the only end that got the best of him either. He saved the Cowboys season no doubt but let’s not overstate him. Tyler was average left tackle at best.
Guyton won't bust. He is too talented. And one big thing both him and Steele have going for them this year is coaching. The upgrade of OL coaching can't be understated.Guyton can make a leap or become more of a bust. We will have to wait and see.
As for Steele. I dont have hope that he turns it around. He was always bad in Pass Pro to begin with.
I saw the red flags and everything is correctable and will be.If Guyton doesnt make a leap, OT could derail the season. Maybe Guyton makes a jump, but you keep saying he will with utter assurance. That ia a complete article of faith. There are red flags that popped up that you ignore
Those arent the red flags Im talking about. The red flags are his practice habits and the fact he got benched when he was healthy. Its a very bad look for him. Far worse than hia actual play. And could be indicative of a player thats not going to improveI saw the red flags and everything is correctable and will be.
It's almost impossible for him not be be better and a lot better. We knew he would struggle last year. He wasn't expected to come in polished and ready to go. This year will be radically different.
- Better coaching - a lot better
- A full off season to learn and get stronger
- A year of experience on the left side
The defensive tackles are working on unyielding strengths at contact, in their legs, That mixed with positional center of gravity body advantages. Strength building and coordination combining. Serious hard work and focus. Team actions head on now.I saw the red flags and everything is correctable and will be.

I think/hope a quality vet swing tackle has to be top of mind for them when the roster cuts start. I think Solari stunk. I believe the coaching will get steele on track again. Guyton? Who knows. All the attributes you can want. Both Tackle Spots are highly suspect and up for grabs in my opinion.
Thats not true at all.Tyler Smith was a below average left tackle during his rookie season and I remember the Rams would putting Aaron Donald over him just to attack him. Don’t get me wrong Smith is our best offensive lineman but the last thing you want to do is put him at left tackle. It would be a disaster for the offensive line as a whole. Guyton would have to be really bad for the Cowboys to mess up the middle of the line with Smith, Bebe, and Booker.
The staff will not set Guyton or Booker down. You have to let biggest investments grow.https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/depth-chart-where-things-stand-at-offensive-tackle
