Im good with anyone who says "Duece may have a harder time getting carries in the NFL" thats a logical thing to say, not saying you have but some are completley dismissing him because of his size when in fact he has been this size at the NCAA level and FOR SURE earned his shot at the NFL.. if he gets beat out by a better back then it is what it is, but his size will not all of the sudden be a problem for him.

Another key for Vaughn to having success is whether he’s going to be able to get away from initial contact. Breaking a tackle and shrugging off a defender is going to be a key for him. He’s not going to be seeing huge, gaping holes to run through very often in the NFL. I’m confident he can make someone miss, it’s whether he can break some tackles and push a defender back and fall forward. That’s a question that will soon be answered.

It’s hard not to love this guy. I’m really pulling for him.
It looks like they will use him. He should get to play a lot in the preseason. These backs will be fun to watch. 2 of Rico, Duece, and Davis should make the team.

Ronald Jones injury and suspension helps Vaughn. Unless our RBs stink in preseason, Jones could be done with the Cowboys.

I would think we’ll see a lot of Vaughn in preseason, especially in the last preseason game.
We should. We know a whole lot more about the other backs. Plus, I don't think Pollard will play much.

You may believe it, but it won’t end up that way. Their second back is going to have to be able to pick up those dirty yards and push the pile when there’s no room. It’s going to be a back with some size they can count on in short yardage situations and near the goal line. We have to be able to punch the ball in the endzone from inside the 5 yard line.
LOL DV doesn't have to be a Zeke replacement to be successful. Why not focus on what DV did in college and his strengths? I take my apology back. You really don't know what you're talking about!!

Doubt Pollard will play any in preseason. They’re not about to risk him coming off a serious injury. They’ve been extra careful with him so far in training camp.

A lot of his strengths are Pollards strengths. Both are quick and shifty with burst and speed. Our second back is going to be someone to complement Pollard, similar to what Zeke did last season. Someone who excels between the tackles and can pick up the tough yards. We need a second back who can wear on the defense. Football simply isn’t for you if you can’t understand that concept. Barring a rash of injuries, Vaughn will not be one of our top two backs entering the regular season. Book it!

I don't know. We might see him briefly in that third game, but he really doesn't have anything to prove. If we don't play Dak, I don't know how many of the starters will actually play in the preseason.

I don't know if we have anyone who really excels between the tackles, though, except for maybe Luepke. I did think Davis showed the ability to pick his way through the middle, but I didn't see anything that made me think he's a power back.

Everyone is pulling for him, but he’s not going to get near as many touches as fans are hoping for or are predicting he will get this season. Currently he has three backs listed ahead of him. I think he’ll make the team, but he could also end up on the practice squad.
Its a feel good story.

but I think he's practice squad at best.

he's little.
Lol, that first depth chart means next to nothing. They listed the backs by their time in the league.

I don’t know how good Vaughn will be in the NFL… but where some guy put him in the initial depth chart isn’t indicative of a thing.
There is a video of a McCarthy interview where he said "I spent a lot of time this summer thinking about all the ways we're going to use Deuce."

Someone is going to have to be able to pick up the tough yards and punch it into the endzone at least fairly consistently or it’s going to lead to issues.

I don’t think we’re going to see Pollard at all. Too risky!

This is my view as well.

If Deuce was known as a specialty, gadget type RB in college, I’d be questioning his ability to play in this league at his size. But he wasn’t - he was a bell cow RB who put up incredible production. And you cannot deny production.

Everyone that is saying Vaughn is too small, must have never watched Darren Sproles play in the NFL. Sproles was like 5'6" 190. I think Vaughn is like 5'5" 180 and can still add some bulk. I think he could be something special if given half a chance. Also, it's not like he didn't face big guys in College.
So because one or two small guys have made in the NFL that means that Vaughn will too?

Thats some kind of logic right there.

I like the kid, but you cant fault people for having doubts. If you dont have them then you arent being honest.

There are lots of running styles that can wear out a defense. But whatever you say. I'm sure Jerry Jones is reading your comments and taking notes. He'll meet with Coach McCarthy and set him straight. Book it!

He should read my comments and take notes, because I’m right most of the time. Are you booking that Vaughn will be one of our top two RBs entering the regular season? Don’t dance around it, provide an answer.
