I don't really get why there's no attention being paid to his shortcomings (no pun intended).

Nobody is talking about, on the 6-yard run, when he got blasted sideways by first contact or the single-arm tackle around the shoulders that pulled him backwards. Those are just as telling about his skillset as the spin move highlight.
His receiving ability is worth the price of admission.

If the guy could truly be a bell cow then, yeah, the rest of the league made a mistake but he's a 5-10 touch a game guy. Not bad, but I'm sure no one is game planning around stopping Deuce.

Beating a LB on an arrow route isn't unique. Most backs in the league can do that.

Pollard is also a terrific receiver, and has proven it against actual NFL defenses. Deuce hasn't done anything to warrant taking away any of those touches.

This. How about we wait until a couple of reg season games in and then decide? It's got nothing to do with pessimism when you just don't want to hype a player (or anything for that matter) too soon. *** is wrong with people constantly doing that? Dont you have anything to celebrate in your life so you have to invest so many emotions into other people or things? Weird.
look up the term fan and see what it derives from. Just enjoy the enthusiasm people have for this kid. If he doesnt pan out at least it was a fun ride

You guys know what's as annoying as people who try and crown someone too early? The people who say people shouldn't lol. Let the hype train begin. I don't care. Why is the pessimistic crowd always trying to temper expectations? Because of past hurt? Who cares?

Deuce Vaughn has been doubted his whole life. To the point he was one of the most productive college players and went in the 6th. He's not suppose to make it in college. He did. He's not suppose to get drafted. He did. He's not suppose to make it in the NFL. And you know what? Yeah it was against back ups but who cares? I see people hyping up what Jalen Carter did who was considered the best player in the NFL draft and he only played 2 snaps against a backup. So let the hype begin. I'm rooting for Deuce.

Ok, so stay out of this forum. Why need to throw your negative 2 cents around here? This is a fans forum for Dallas Cowboys fans, and fans have every right to be optimistic and hype up one of their players. If it bothers you that much, respectfully stay out and go comment elsewhere. Sheesh.

Not that I'm saying we should get too excited about him yet, but those things happen to every back. It's the cumulative effort that counts. Sometimes you bang into the line for 3 yards on three carries and the next carry is for 20, so four for 23 looks pretty good. Sometimes defenders whip an offensive lineman right off the snap and he's in your face and there's nowhere to go. Sometimes you juke a player out of his jock and other times the defender stays at home and blasts you when you try that spin move.

I understand what you are saying, but we can nitpick a performance to death. Vaughn rushed eight times for 50 yards (6.25 per carry) and a TD. He also caught a pass to set up the TD. That's a very good performance no matter what other professionals it came against.

Some, of course, get carried away in praising it, while others go out of their way to diminish it. I think we should recognize it for what it is and want (hope) to see more.

Not really.

The single-arm shoulder tackle doesn't happen to really any of them, the way that it did to Deuce. Zeke made a career out of running through those, Pollard has improved dramatically in that regard.

So after 1 preseason game against #2's and #3's the entire league messed up allowing Vaughn to go to Dallas???? Damn man talking about anointing a rookie to greatness a little too soon.
Consider the source.

The skills and abilities that Deuce showed will work on ANY level of competition.

And they already HAVE.

For those that don’t know and haven’t done the homework, feel free to look up his college stats. Specifically the big games he had against top defensive programs like Alabama.

He doesn’t have to prove anything because he already has.

Did you say "The 6 yard Run" . . . What seems to be the problem?

I don't think anyone wants to "take away" touches from Pollard but Pollard isn't going to be in on every play. So, in the event he needs a breather or whatever it's nice to possibly have a guy in there who can actually produce instead of just a guy who is on the field for a couple plays.

? . . . Yeah Ok
YAC is what differentiates running backs. Any back in the league can get 6 yards untouched.

A back that size getting hit directly sideways, by a safety nonetheless, and not falling forward at the second level is going to lose yards relative to other players. This isn't a mystery.

It's the first two carries here: premiere backs turn both of those into more yardage
