Aikman Efficiency Ratings Formula
The Aikman Efficiency Ratings measure offensive and defensive performance using a combination of seven key statistics identified by Troy, and then measured against league norms (and extremes) established over the last 10 years. An offense or defense performing exactly at league norms in all categories will achieve a score of 75. The better the offense or defense, the higher the score on either scale.
It will take a truly exceptional unit to score more than 90 during an entire season on either the offensive or defensive scale. Higher scores are possible in individual games.
In 2005, AER scores ranged on offense from 92.6 (Seattle) to 60.9 (San Francisco) and on defense from 89.3 (Chicago) to 61.1 (Houston). The seven categories measured are:
  • Adjusted Points (20%) -- Total Points Scored or Allowed minus Points on Returns and Safeties
  • Turnovers (20%)
  • Red-Zone Efficiency (20%) -- Measured by Percent of Possible Points (see below)
  • Yards Per Play -- divided into Yards Per Rush (10% of total) and Yards Per Pass Play (10% of total). Yards Per Pass Play includes yards on plays involving sacks.
  • First-Down Achievement -- divided into Total First Downs (10% of total) and Third-Down Conversion Percentage (10% of total)
  • Percentage of Possible Points in the Red Zone is figured by taking the number of Red-Zone Chances times 7, then dividing it by the number of Points Actually Scored (defined as TDs times 7 plus FGs times 3).
You call that subjective?

Again, you choose to go by the stats that make you look better, and I will go by the stats that make your team better.

Bottom line, both teams are deserving to be 8-4 and Sunday night will be a great game. I am looking forward to it, and have enjoyed discussing football with you folks. It will be a good game and may the best team win.

Just make sure if you don't that you admit we are better if we win and don't make excuses. If you beat us I will do the same. Fair?

It doesn't matter. Both teams will see each other again in the Playoffs. Possibly the NFC Champ game in either Dallas or New Orleans.

This game is huge...home field is on the line. Chicago is smoke and mirrors.

I give credit where it is due and expect the same. This is a good board Dat. Don't offend people here and we're easy to talk to.

Just don't pay any attention to any Eagle or Deadskin fans hanging out here. They have no other place to go. :laugh1:

Actually Henderson is looking pretty damn good and he's as fast as anybody in the league. This 3rd year player is Horn's backup and is quitely having a breakout season. He has 7 TDs to his credit in limited playing time which is amazing. Believe me the guy can play. Copper is also looking pretty good but has had to crutial fumbles in the Cinny and Pitt games that cost us any chance to win.

Yea their not our A team but with defenses focusing on Deuce, Bush and Brees, it really hasn't mattered who is out there at WR. Brees just seems to get them the football. Still, I think you will handle them with ease.

Until Sunday.

Attention Saints' Fans

Obey the rules or leave.

Got it, François?

Don't peak in the backfield and he will be fine. Henderson will have him 40 yards down the field before the screen pass hits Bush and he runs to pay dirt, and I'd be worried about the half back pass this week too.

Oh man. You're right. I just came to the conclusion that the Saints have the greatest offense in the history of the NFL, and they are UNSTOPPABLE!

The '85 Bears Defense couldn't even dream of slowing these future Hall of Famers down.

No, Parcells said that Hurd would start the game because he didn't want two receivers learning new positions. He wanted to keep Crayton in the slot and Hurd was the guy behind Glenn & Owens. That was the only reason that Hurd was the starter the game that Glenn missed.

:hammer:

He said Crayton already had enough jobs and didn't want to add to them. That's why Hurd got the start.

Wouldn't expect anything less from a "Classy" Cowboys fan. Nice Katrina reference. You now have to live with making that statement. Hope you got a good laugh out of it.

Get over it, Loser.

And I'm still waiting for you NO guys to go to Houston and take back your criminals.

Kind of like the Philly team that hung 38 on your D that we held to 24? Kind of like that?

Nevermind that 7 of those points were a defensive TD, another 7 on a 90 yard TD pass where our 5th round ROOKIE was left in one on one coverage. Another 7 after our punter dropped a snap.

Not to mention we played that game IN PHILLY. You played philly in the sewerdome.

Big difference playing the Eagles at home rather then playing them at the Linc.
