What a crappy way to start the day. I wake up to THIS news?! I hate stupidity and it continues to seem like Dez is pretty stupid/immature. This sucks. Reminds me of when I used to hear the news about Irvin or some of those guys being brought up on various charges. Just sucks. Can't wait to see how long Goodell will suspend him for....ughh. Man I wish we still had Laurent Robinson :(
I'll save you the wait time, he's not getting suspended.

Not sure how you know this, but I certainly hope you're right. I appreciate you attempting to save me wait time, but I assume the worst when it comes to Goodell and how he handles the Cowboys.

I haven't read every post in this entire thread, so maybe this has been covered, but is does this type of offense usually end up with a suspension and for about how long?

He was simply arrested. Nothing else has happened yet. He even turned himself in - unusual for the rumored offense.

He should get an automatic 30 days in the hole. You don't touch your moms.

So your mom's high as a hite, waving a knife and trying to stab your 5 year old sister cause she thinks she's a monster in the night. Do you touch your mom then? or just hope nothing bad happens?

Blanket statements like that are just silly. We have no idea what was going on, the context of the situation or the condition of the people involved. Rushing to judgement is the downfall of this generation.

Well it "seems" like a fairly minor incident, but he was arrested and this incident involved violence. Those things immediately set-off "Goodell power-trip, messsage-sending time!" in my head. Wouldn't surprise me to see Dez suspended at least for game 1 against Goodell's buddy Mara's vagiants. I hope that I'm totally wrong about this.

It is a shame when someone's stupid behavior now will put a spotlight on the rest of the team and become a huge distraction for the next week or so. And every single story about the Cowboys will have some mention of this stupid incident. This guy is really an immature person and if the Cowboys don't give him another contract because they don't believe he can be counted on to be a professional athlete, I will be just fine with it.

I wish I could say I was surprised at this but I am not.

Cue Dez excuse makers

He is young

He is immature

not his fault

etc

I would agree if that is actually what happened. All we know right now is an arrest was made based on probable cause. Whether that remains the case over the course of the investigation remains to be seen.

If we find out later on that Dez was going full on Brandon Marshall, then people by all means would have a right to be upset and freak out, but until then, the smart thing to do is to reserve those kinds of judgments and comments.

Remember how dumb people looked the last time there was a shock-value headline involving Dez and it turned out to be the equivalent of an arm-wrestling match in an old folks home?

It was a situation where he turned himself in and was released immediately. It wasn't like he was dragged off in handcuffs kicking and fighting. Misdemeanor C is pretty much a speeding ticket. He won't get suspended, he might not even get fined.

I hear you and I hope that this just blows over. Just seems like this is a guy that continues to make poor decisions and is immature. We don't see these things occur with Ware, Witten, Romo, etc, but we keep seeing these things pop up with Dez. People shouldn't necessarily assume the worst in this situation, but I'm not sure that Dez has earned the benefit of the doubt. I totally understand the people who are pessimistic/skeptical when it comes to Dez and his actions. He has "earned" that with his multiple transgressions - minor or not.

Like I said before, I hope that you're right. This situation does, however, appear to be a step up from his saggy pants/jewelry incidents. My concern is that Goodell likes to hand out unusually harsh punishments and he does not appear to like Dallas very much. Those things have me bracing for the worst.

He was arrested for pushing his mom
@ProFootballTalk: Dez Bryant's arrest came after pushing his mother http://t.co/GgSV7Wzi

I'll reserve more comments on this until later, but lets just say I've got a general idea of the scenario in my own head.

Just a thought before this turns into more crucifixion...

Dez's mom had (has?) a drug problem . . . Dez is back home trying to hang with the family . . . Dez's mom using again? . . . gets in his face . . . Dez gets frustrated . . . she's pushing him/hitting him . . . pushes her off of him . . . falls down, cries foul . . .

Anyone ever seen that story before? I imagine something similar happened here.

Dez is not worth the headache. The Cowboys MUST replace him in the near future.

He cannot be depended on.

Yeah, the peanuts are emptying the gallery.

This is basically what I've thought about since finding out his was his mother. If it is this scenario or anything close to it, as hard as it would be for Dez, he needs to do some re-evaluation of what type of relationship he wishes to have with his family.
