Demarco has too many miles on him. We unloaded him at the right time. We can't let a disappointing season where he was gone make more of his absence. Unless its AP, go young at RB.

Wouldn't even want AP at this point unless he was a FA for cheapish. He has seen his better days and he is about as boneheaded as they come. Murray justifiably gets a lot of flack from his fumble against the Packers but I have no doubt that AP would've done the same.

Only backs I would be eager to make an investment in would be La'Veon Bell or Todd Gurley.

This is never gonna happen. It would be a 13 million cap hit to release him. Murray will be an eagle for foreseeable future.

They don't have to eat a lot if DAL takes on the contract.
The Eagles would save 4m against the cap this year with no further hits.

DAL would restructure the deal to cover the 9m guaranteed left and take a cap hit of 2.5m in 2016.
If they cut DMC and his 2.1m cap hit the cost would be minimal and they could still draft a RB at any point.

If there's one player on this team that outplayed his contract this season it's Run DMC. We are not cutting him no matter what RB we may or may not bring in here.

We're probably going RB next year and rolling with McFadden and Turbin. I think it's foolish, but it would not surprise me for 1 more season.

Would have been better for him to not have left in the first place. I'm sure the team would welcome him, but I don't want him back.

Why not?

He basically took a year off to rest up from all those carries in 2014, so he should be good to go now. You team him up with McFadden and that is one hell of a running game. And yes, I know that McFadden was 4th in the league in rushing, but those were because he would pop some big runs here and there. We were the worst team in the league on 3rd and short last season, so its obvious that McFadden could not get the dirty yards to move the pile.

So while the numbers overall look good for our running game, our short yardage game was a disaster..........Murray could fix that.

I don't place our lack of success on short yardage plays entirely on McFadden. I believe it had more to do with predictable playcalling and horrible QB play. Teams knew what we were going to do---we didn't have a QB to make the changes at the line to put us in the position to succeed or put fear in an opposing defense. You cannot underestimate just how awful our passing game was this past season. Worst passing game in the NFL bar none.

Yea how dare Dez take the 5 minutes in the offseason tweeting support for bringing his friend back to Dallas...

Now I'm not sure how this makes McFadden feel...

I doubt McFadden cares, he knows the nature of the business. After a 4-12 season, nobody should feel safe...especially a RB who will be 29 starting next season.

You are supposed to pay for future production, not past. DMC didn't anything special to warrant a free ride to the starters job. If a rookie or Murray is on the team DMC should be cut. 2.1m isn't peanuts.

We saw that guys like DMC, CMIke, Turbin and even SJackson can be had for cheap if your RB1 goes down. Why pay 3x more than you have to?

But what would that deal look like doing forward, after 2016?

2017 would be a decision. 5m of his 8m would be guaranteed after March 1st and that would be the starting point based on what he did in 2016.

They could still cut him and take a 3.5m hit or renegotiate like they did with Free.

For the same reasons I didn't want to sign him last season. He's at the age where injury and production slow down are likely at his position. Also, he went to a division rival and failed.

There are other ways to address the short yardage game.

We're definitely not a franchise or fanbase with a mindset to create a new legacy. Everyone wants to bring back blasts from the past when something went right. Let's bring back Jimmy. Let's bring back Murray. Let's bring back Ware. Let's bring back Newman. Heck, let's bring back Amendola.

Eh. Give me 24-year old Lamar Miller for 4-years $20 million. I think he's a younger, fresher, more talented (at this point) running back.

I'm with you, just going over the numbers as is.

I wouldn't do it unless the whole deal was re-donne.

I want a rookie to take over unless he get Miller.

Getting rid of DMC and not bringing back Dunbar clears 3.6m to spend on Miller.

LMiller+ Drake+ Turbin >>>>Murray + Dixon + Turbin >>>> DMC + Turbin + Dunbar

He is. Murray had a great year for us, but moving forward Miller is a much better option.

There's 0 chance Philly eats that cap anyway.

DMC got a free ride? Seriously?

He did not start out as the starter and was the only consistent back out of the whole rb carousel we showcased.

The guy ran for the 4th most yards and didn't start for 4 games.

He was carrying the rock 25-30 times a game last 6 games of the season.

4.6 yards a carry and ran for a 1st down on 21.8% of his touches.

That's not worth 2.1 million per season?

CMike, who was released by us after trading a draft pick for him, Turbin, who was not resigned and SJackson who didn't sign till after NE was on what their 4th back? None of these guys did squat when put in for their respective teams.

Look at Pittsburgh with DeAngelo Williams. They're commited to touches out of the backfield so they invested.

We're committed to touches out of the backfield. We got a very productive and cost effective player in Run DMC and it would be good to get a future young bell cow to play with him this year. Not cut him to save the 2.1 million.

This will probably be his last year with us but he's a deal and a productive starter. If we got a stud for the future they both carry the ball and at worst you have amazing depth at the position. We need to run the ball well. Every game, regardless of injury.

Dez needs to get traded to the iggles so he can be with his man crush, Murray. Dez was as useless to the Cowboys as Murrays was to the iggles in 2015 so those two belong together.
