We all need to remember that this is more than just a football player . This is sports entertainment . Which makes players a public entity. And they're compensated as such.
They do have a responsibility to conduct themselves in a manner which is lawful and respective to society because they are representing a label. A product the NFL and their owners are selling and why they attempt to uphold some integrity.
These public personalities do have a cultural influence whether we like it or not . They will be subject to criticism .
To say there is no value or interest beyond their profession on the field is short sighted. The NFL is more than a game. It's a business first.
