How do you get dehydrated in one quarter of football during an indoor game? Local media reporting this.

Drops a probable touchdown pass, gets dehydrated, breaks his foot....not a great night for Dez.

Guys should know better you keep yourself hydrated through out the game. Those trainers with water bottles are not out there for kicks. Keep yourself hydrated thirsty or not

Being jacked up before the game, during the game, after the game...

I didnt see the pregame, so maybe I missed, but I have never seen Dez look so calm during a game almost disinterested.

Doesn't work that way at all, really. He was liters short if he were that dehydrated. He can't just "stay hydrated" when he's down liters in the game. The whole point of the IV is to get the player hydrated while preventing them from having to take a number 1 in the middle of the third quarter. They gave him a lot of fluid.

I agree. He got his money and with it comes high expectations. I don't begrudge him getting hurt but I expect the best from dez that is what was paid for.

yes it does work that way, Dez was the only one who suffered from dehydration, they have staff and tell guys to keep hydrated once you get to the point that an IV is required only means you have reach that point but it can be prevented to start with. Hell marathon runners are able to go long distance and remain hydrated there is much that you can do to avoid it

Okay, but dehydration isn't prevented in game. If he required an IV, he wasn't going to be able to drink that much water.

Dehydration is prevented the second you wake up in the morning. Not from the water bottle you drink mid game. By then, it's too late.

Hyrdration doesn't just occur during the game. It is a continuous process. A player should be hydrating daily.

It is prevented by not allowing your body fluids to reach that low of a level and yes those gator aid buckets are not sitting there because they are colorful. It is important as you are sweating to maintain body fluids and yes to make sure you ready to go prior to the game but that is on the players. I'm fircken tired of excuses. Dez got a king ransom and sitting on the sideline over something that is very well preventable. If it seem I am expecting a lot you bet. He got what he wanted now go out and show it

Exactly. In fact, if at a sufficient deficit, it is impossible for a player to reasonably rehydrate themselves and play a football game.

And you're done. This is such a one sided conversation at this point.

Dehydration is an ongoing, all day process. It's not solved mid game.

The be ready ahead of time there were 45 active players none of the others had this issue and they work every bit as hard.

are you done? I did not see giants player or other Cowboy players having any problems. Dez needs to have himself ready to go and maintain it through out the game. He did not walk into the stadium dehydrated. I'm not saying you solve it mid game I'm saying he needs to come to the games ready to play and maintain things like hydration through out the game.

Dehydration can be progressive, meaning one needs to hydrate all the time, Dez could have been dehydrated for a week or days and it only showed when performance was required at this level.

You could say it was his lack of activity due to basically no pre-season and not much TC, but I distinctly remember an interview with Garrett on Dez's demeanor a couple of years ago and he said they had to have some conversations with him both before, after and during games because he would tire himself out on the sidelines with his constant activity. Just watch the vid of him after the game last night celebrating in the hallway in his underwear on a broken foot.

Love the enthusiasm, but you have to dislike the disregard for his own health, wandering barefoot before anybody has any definitive idea what is wrong with his foot. You see a handler trying to walk him back to the room and he limps much more noticeably back than when he was wandering out there, clapping and screaming.

Garrett mentioned something about the challenge of channeling Dez's energy and it still looks like his unbridled enthusiasm can still get the best of him and it could possibly be harmful.
It's a dual edged sword and something the team knows and obviously are happy to deal with, hence the large commitment, but we will probably continue to see this off and on will until age starts hitting him more and he continues to mature emotionally.

I love the young dude and this team needs him, but he needs to get a bit of a grip on himself and use his powers for more good and less self-inflicted harm.

what ticks me off, it is preventable unlike other physical injuries that can happen at anytime. There is little he could have done to prevent breaking a bone in his foot however there is something he can do to prevent missing time because of dehydration.
