yes it does work that way, Dez was the only one who suffered from dehydration, they have staff and tell guys to keep hydrated once you get to the point that an IV is required only means you have reach that point but it can be prevented to start with. Hell marathon runners are able to go long distance and remain hydrated there is much that you can do to avoid it

You can't hydrate by just drinking water when you get dehydrated. It's too late then.

Hydration happens the day before.

They're saying Dez was on the field for three hours before the game running routes. He has to learn to settle down.

and as an athlete that is his job to ensure and a training staff that ensure. I know everyone loves Dez I do to but damn it I will not make excuses for him. Oh he gets excited so fricken what I watch guys like Witten busting their hump year after year I don't see him having these issues. Dez got his money he need to ensure he is ready to go not sitting on the sidelines. He got the money I expect more out of him and so should every fan instead of free passes.

I'm only expecting these guys to keep themselves ready, they want the big bucks they get the big bucks. As I mention nothing a guy can do to prevent many of the injuries that can and do happen I understand that what they can do is keep themselves physically fit and ready to play.

For those who thought Dez was too calm must not have read Fishers tweet that Dez was on a mission during pregame to dap and hug it out with every person on the active roster. And that was in relation to other tweets that mentioned how jacked up he was. Sooo... big lol at anyone who thought he was gonna chill now that he got his money.

How do you get dehydrated in one quarter of football during an indoor game? Local media reporting this.

Drops a probable touchdown pass, gets dehydrated, breaks his foot....not a great night for Dez.

I mentioned this last night (and the thread was moved into the giant one where it gets lost and no one reads). You have to understand the situation you are in. He's a superstar and he needs to be on the field. I wonder how the past great football players would think of running in to get hydrated right when they were needed. Would waiting 20 more minutes or so hurt much? I thought he'd arrived last year and had a good understanding of his role. Now, not so much.

Actually this makes me more concerned. That's a lot of energy to be using up before the game. That fits into his jawing the Giants during a couple of plays. Just go back to the huddle or off the field. He was notorious for that his first few years.

Just got back from the game, and let me tell you guys what a helluva experience! The crowd freaking erupted on that last drive, loudest place I've ever been to. As for the thread topic, while watching warm ups and the team stretches (we got into the stadium at 5:30), it's obvious why Dez is always Dehydrated. He's so damn physced up before the game starts, bouncing around, pumping up the crowd, just spending needless energy. I mean it's all passion with the guy, and you wish all 53 men on our team had his heart, but he does need to tone it down a little.

Ive often wondered the same...

I know it was high school but our coaches/trainer would always tell us to drink at least 2 gallons of water the day before the game...

This will be an issue with Dez. If you look at his body, particularly his abs, it almost looks like he's cutting. Usually carrying around the proper amount of water weigh won't have someone as cut as he looks just walking around. If he's going to continue not to address it before gameday, he should take a note from Rangers pitchers and get a preventative IV before the game starts tonlower the risk of it happening in game.

Yea, I thought it was strange as well because it really was not that hot at game time.

Reminded me of Lebron James cramping up till he couldn't walk in the Finals last year when the AC broke mid game. Nobody else on either team had any problems but him.

It was just a weird game all around last night.

He's had dehydration issues his whole career. Last night was pretty weird though.

At the start of a game, you will not be able to hydrate to get through it if you go in dehydrated. On the flip side, if you are properly hydrated at game-time, you will not get dehydrated if you skip drinking on the sidelines for a few hours(don't condone that though).

Of course, there is always outliers like playing outdoors in the heat, metabolism differences, etc. Bottom line: Dez was not physically prepared to play the game, he was probably on the verge of dehydration in warm-ups.

Which goes to my previous post here in this thread and what Garrett said that everyone here has ignored.

It's possible he was sick.

The idea that people on a forum are going to be the ones to break the news to a pro athlete that they should hydrate is a bit silly.

what ticks me off, it is preventable unlike other physical injuries that can happen at anytime. There is little he could have done to prevent breaking a bone in his foot however there is something he can do to prevent missing time because of dehydration.

When he went off to get an IV I was thinking to myself "Again?" How many times have we seen him go off for an IV? What bothers me is if he HAD hydrated properly before the game maybe he doesn't need that IV and maybe that play where he breaks his foot doesn't happen.

His dehydration and injury was very likely the result of him missing OTA work during his contract hold out and not playing in any preseason games due to his hamstring. Last night was the first time he's gone all out in a long time and it caught up with him. He clearly wasn't in game shape.
