Viewership and attendance proved differently before a Covid was an issue. IIRC, the TV deal had some outs if the viewership became a bigger problem.

I'm a Tebow fan. He is an exceptional person, which affords him opportunities others rarely receive.
And because he accepts these opportunities, many get upset with him.
However, he was simply not a good quarterback over four quarters. He had a clutch gene but not the talent to go with it.

Tebow hasn't played football in 8 years. He hasn't played the position he was signed for ever.
I doubt it really matters because he is a heinously long shot to make the team.
And the Jags can try to garner attention however they like.

But yes this does come across as insulting to actual NFL players who are scrambling for roster spots.
Dez is one of about 1000 layers saying "what???".

He is being invited to support events that raise money for churches and religious groups and organizations. And Tim Tebow is a BIG draw.
Why should he not charge? He still has to make a living.
Moreover, there's this unfamiliar verse shared by the Apostle Paul, "Those who preach the Gospel should live (earn their living) by the Gospel."
As for his time and money, the man has built a hospital in the Philippines and is now married. He needs to guard his time and money because he has new responsibilities and has people endlessly clamoring for his time, attention and money.
He's not single anymore, and he's not as young as he used to be.
So he has to think about his family and his legacy.
But, you're entitled to your opinion, as are we all.

My point is that Tebow was serviceable, and Elway's decision to cut Tebow didnt prove that he wasnt. It was an easy decision to go get one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game and take a gamble on him since you had nothing at the QB position. It didnt make Elway anything other than not an idiot.

There are plenty of other better players that have lost roster spots or shots from Tebow, who very well knew he wasn't good at his job. If he's struggling for a job, that's fine. But when he's charging 50-100 thousand dollars per speaker fee, including churches, calling it 'philanthropy' while keeping his 'schedule open' during football season, Tebow is about himself period.

He has been charging that much money for over a decade as single-man...

Also if anything, his critics were labeled "anti-Christian", so painting him as some sort of victim of 'social justice warriors" is utterly asinine. It was reported he was making things up after his first read.

FYI, if you're a celebrity, you can make a killing off public speaking. Tom Brady, once he retires, won't have to worry about money ever again. His 7 Super Bowls alone puts him in rarified air as a public speaker because he will be marketable to corporations looking for a speaker to address leadership issues as well as any group, business or agency interested in sports and - more broadly - winning.

Here are two links that reveal how much individual celebrities charge for public speaking engagements. The groups they speak to are broader than churches. But even with churches, they only tend to pay that money for speakers like Tim Tebow who they know will draw attendees. Besides, many of these churches and church organizations have large donors who are paying these speaking engagements. Some of these churches have members who are CEOs, owners of corporations, car dealerships, etc., and if the person or the cause is "worthy enough," they'll make a special donation to fund speaking appearances. Tebow will just have to smooze and take pictures with the donor, his wife and the grandchildren.

Lost roster spots - name them - who are they? Whoever they are they were fringe minor leaguers who never really had a chance anyway. You are going to begrudge him the chance to play a game that he loves. Are you going to begrudge every other single player in the NFL who gets a chance this summer because he knows a coach?

This is just stupid nonsense, this taking a roster spot from somebody who deserves it- there are 10,000 of them out there who are on the fringe - they are better off finding a career.

Tebows ability and the name affords him both opportunities. So what, every other popular athlete get opportunities he should never get otherwise - just look at those guys who go into acting and are terrible. You gonna take that away from them because they played sports?
