We have been irrelevant because of the salary cap? Which players did we lose due to salary cap? What free agents were we not able to sign due to salary cap? We have been irrelevant for years because we have been so poor at drafting.

Right, bad drafts have contributed also. But times are changing.

Just curious how that comment changed everyone's mind.

To me, it was immature. He could have kept quiet, but instead chose to take a public stance, on social media, no less.

I hear that....perhaps it was just a media ploy? I wouldn't put that past Jerry Jones! lol

A lot of posters showing their true colors.

What are those "true colors", by the way?

Those that are loyal to the team that take offense to a player holding the team hostage via social media?

Or those who are fans of the player who say "pay the man", no matter the fiscal consequences?

Which is it?

All I can say is that it is unfortunate it turned ugly. I was hoping it would not.

Without knowing the details, how stupid is that. Who the hell would take a depreciating object over cash.

Lol. We are talking about a guy that spent 400k on a #88 diamond necklace here on a rookie contract!

Who the hell buys/needs a 2 million dollar car? Bill Gates and who else??

And that is part of the problem. Feeding the family, bro!

I just learned what Dez' only leverage is from Bob Sturm.

He can refuse to sign his tender and hold out unless Dallas agrees to assert a clause that eliminates the franchise tag next summer. Just like Greg Hardy.

That makes this more complicated potentially.

This was inevitable the day Dez was drafted. If he lived up to his potential, this day would ultimately come. Denver is in the same boat and possibly Atlanta next year if neither Dez/Demayrius set the market. Negotiations are never pretty in any setting. Onlookers(fans) need to accept that and remove emotions

I beg to differ. And I think the rest of the league begs to differ as well. And I love Tyron, Romo, Martin etc....but I don't recall them being anywhere close to where Dez is on the NFL top 100 list!

Dumbest list ever. Martin not even on it. And how many receivers ahead of Dez?

And most of our own guys that were given a second contract didn't live up it. Only DWare, Romo and Witten got better after they got paid.

MBIII, RW31, RW11, Hamlin, TNew, Austin, Flozell, Ratliff, Spencer and more didn't live up to their deals.

Why would DAL do that? If he skips games DAL saves money this year and next year.

They agreed with Hardy because of his special circumstances and incentive based contract.

OverTheCap has weighed in

All About The Dez Bryant Holdout Threat

With the deadline to sign a franchise player to a long term contract less than 48 hours away, Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has issued an ultimatum that if he isn’t signed he is going to miss training camp and miss games. Dez reportedly wants a contract in line with Calvin Johnson’s megadeal with Detroit ($16 million a year with $48 million guaranteed), which is neither in line with the standard receiver market nor apparently Dallas’ valuation of Bryant. With Dallas not budging on a deal, this seems like a last ditch effort to force the Cowboys hand. It is a threat that will likely ring hollow in Dallas, but it has certainly set the world of Twitter on fire so let’s look at some of the particulars here.

Read here http://overthecap.com/all-about-the-dez-bryant-holdout-threat/

Dallas needs to do that because it is pretty clear the offense is dead in the water without Bryant. He knows it. So does the team.

There is no winner here now it has got ugly.

You can feed a small village for that!! ;)

Maybe Dez has two villages that he needs to feed? Diva's need their body guards, a steak once in a while, some spending cash...you know...household stuff. A baby sitter, a good dog, a wife that wants a $500,000 ring...you know, basic stuff.

But they have no incentive to give that. What do they get in return? The damage to 2015 would have already been done.

By next year they can draft or sign a new WR, especially with a 12-15m budget. They would be giving up the value of 2 first rounds picks to get Dez to do what he is being paid 13m to do.

Oh, I agree. But in a way, there is leverage on Bryant's side. You really think that an offense without Bryant is going to scare anybody?

That is his stance.

You are arguing constructs, which I basically agree with. But this is about winning football games, no ideological debates.

On the opposite end, Jerry Jones probably wipes his bum with $100 bills.

I can see both sides. I just hate to see it happen like this. It is just unfortunate.

If he sits out games the best thing to do is go out and win. That would devastate his plan and leave him persona non grata.
