Demaryius and Dez are extremely comparable statistically and they have also both been franchised.

D. Thomas is about to be signed it looks like. Details are already being leaked of the amount. They came to their senses and are going to forget about the tag.

Dallas would be foolish to haggle over Dez when they way overpaid for Romo, whom is a big strain on our cap and already gave Tyron Smith his big deal.

wah wah wah. Like I said the insurance is there to be had if he wants it.

Does insurance provide job security? Not at all. And not even close to the amount he would receive in guaranteed money from the contract he deserves.

Romo's contract has to the worst in the NFL. It's the most ridiculous contract for a guy his age and his health issues and what he's counting against the cap But heaven forbid they give Dez a deal.

Quit being obtuse and ignorant.

With the Demaryius news out now, and considering they have the same agent, it's a fair assumption to assume Dez wants more than CJ.

He won't get it, because he's not worth it. No receiver is worth that much.

I'm all for what's fair, but that's just asinine. The fact he's even threatening to sit out games makes me a little disappointed in him.

If he's serious about it, I'll tell him we're going to franchise him for two years, and when that's done he can go play catch with Blake Bortles in Jacksonville and watch his home team in the playoffs every season.

They don't have the same agent. Thomas' agent is Todd France and Dez's is Tom Condon.

So then whatever Dez wants he should get?

LOL thats how dez sees it !

If dez doesnt play the cowboys can still win , and even if he does play they can still lose.
If it turns out they can run the ball good they can get by without dez.
they should tell him if he sits 1 game he will be benched for whole season, including the playoffs .

So if you had a chance to make 12 million dollars or 50 million dollar to take care of your family, which one would you take? Second question(a better one at that), would you be okay throwing a hissy fit even if it means you getting THAT much money?

dez could sign the longterm contract and prove he is a team player , he will have plenty of $ for rest of his life.
he would have "security"
But he is being greedy and anti-team by wanting more than they are offering.
If he is just about more money he should just sit out the entire season, and go play for another team and get the money he wants
if another team will offer it..
He needs to decide if he wants to be a cowboy making 12 mil a year or go play elsewhere for more $.

I think you have a bromance for Dez ??

Well I'm not saying pick between the 2 lol.

But backing ourselves in a corner with 2 players on offense taking up half the cap isn't a wise idea. I'd prefer to invest in a pro-bowl potential DT (Crawford) and a pro-bowl DE (hardy), than a player prone to temper-tantrums and questionable behavior off the field.

So Dez is prone to questionable behavior off the field which makes you not want to invest into him? Yet you would prefer to let him walk so we can invest in a guy who missed over a year of football due to a domestic violence conviction and a suspension by the league? Really?

We drafted 2 DE's with high draft picks early in the last 2 rounds. Most likely Hardy is gone after this season anyway. We have Lawrence and Gregory playing on rookie contracts over the next few years.

You show an obvious anti Dez bias in your comments.

When did Crawford become a potential pro bowl DT? I have nothing against him but before I can seriously talk about a pro bowl I want to see a consistent realiable starter. Our defensive scheme doesn't put much importance on the DT's anyway.

Please.. just stop. This defense rides or dies by the 3T. Which is what Crawford plays.

It would be very close. If he signed this year's tender then insured himself against next year's tender, that's about $30 million guaranteed, which may not be quite as much as the guaranteed dollars he would get in a new deal, but it's certainly in the neighborhood.

I don't believe Romo's contract is the worst in the NFL but even if I accept that statement as fact, how in the world does giving 1 bad contract to 1 star player justify as a reason to give another bad contract to a different star player?

What exact is your logical connection there? "Hey they screwed up with Romo so the smart thing to do is screw up with Bryant as well!"

I like this idea, but I'm not sure it's wise to do that.

(They can bench him or deactivate him, but they'd still have to pay him as well as give him a spot on the 53-man roster so at that point you have to wonder if that would really be wise)

They view that position as so important that they passed round after round on DT's. They passed on every free agent DT also while giving Hardy huge money. They took a chance on Gregory and drafted Lawrence early last year because the defense rides or dies by the 3T.
I see your point....the front office and Marinelli seem to not agree though.

Blah blah blah.. If Dez gets a big contract I'll still be a Dallas fan... If he holds out I'll still be a Dallas Fan.. If he signs the franchise tag I'll still be a Dallas fan.. If he gets traded to the Raiders or Jags I'll still be a Dallas fan... You gonna get your money Dez and it might not be in Dallas.. Stephen and Jerry ain't breaking the bank anymore..

It's real easy to tell Dez to be a team player when it isn't your money

I like going to the gun range.

If I was getting offered $10 million to go shoot at the gun range for my "job"...there is NO WAY on EARTH I would whine about needing $15 million.

They arent doctors or lawyers...they arent saving lives or protecting property. They're playing a back yard sports game.

You forgot they let Spencer go and we didn't have any rush from our DE's last year. In case you have missed the offseason buzz(Garrett saying Crawford has unlimited potential, etc.) - this team really believes in Crawford. Pointing out that we drafted a DE does not change that this defense live and dies by the 3T. Did you watch the Bucs early 2000? They had a dominant 3T and a dominant DE. I'm going to guess you didn't watch them for whatever reason. Just keep living in your world. Every great Marinelli led defense that was very successful had an awesome 3T.

Yes, it is easy because we all know he won't be playing for free. He will be making millions whether that is on the franchise tag or a long term deal Dallas has offered. He won't be hurting for money.

Haha...so in summary you value Crawford over Dez Bryant...the offseason buzz gotcha again.
If Crawford played a position of such great importance to our success or failure then we would have prioritized that position and not put so many draft picks and salary to DE's. If our team lives or dies based on 3t then you don't go into a potential Super Bowl season with just Crawford at that position while you allocate so much to other positions.
I'm having trouble determining if you are really serious in what you say. I wonder if I am being trolled here.

If he really wants to be signed by tomorrow, then sign the freakin' contract!
If Dallas really wants this to go away, add 2-3 million to his guaranteed money and put the ball in his court again!

I'm so sick of reading about this situation. I want Dez playing for the Cowboys. I do not want Dez's contract preventing us from being competitive in the future after this one season. I'm happy for tomorrow to come and go, whatever it brings.

A good QB is a higher commodity than a good WR. Hence why Romo should and is paid more than Dez will be. It's that way across the league.

Let's also not act like Bryant is baggage free. You can point out that Romo is old and has an injury history but Dez has off the field issues that make it a concern for the Cowboys.

So stop being obtuse and ignorant yourself.
