I think that dez is the most gifted receiver physically anyone has ever seen.

Much of Dez's story could play out in a different uniform after next season. Dez could be in line for a $14-18 mil per season extension. And The Cowboys simply won't be able to afford that with their cap situation.

One or two of the following 3 won't end up staying w/the team after their current contracts: Dez Bryant, Tyron Smith, Bruce Carter.

The only player that might happen to is Bruce Carter. Dez and Tyron aren't going anywhere, unless they just flat out refuse to resign with Dallas.

What WR is the best ever after 4 seasons?

He's the most gifted WR the Cowboys have ever had. He's got a loooooong way to go to ever be the player Michael Irvin was.

I agree. There is about a zero percent chance that either Dez or Tyron aren't resigned. They aren't players you run out of money on. You create money to keep them and they will.

These threads and posts about dez bryant are getting out of control. He's put together (count them) ONE complete season in the 4 years he's played, has never made a pro bowl, or an all pro team (and I'm being generous because he wasn't mistake free in the first half of 2012). He's got potential, but none of today's current crop of receivers rates anywhere close to all-time except for larry fitzgerald.

Putting up 1300 yard seasons in today's league with all the rules benefitting offenses (especially with the new protecting the defenseless receiver) doesn't count a whole lot in my book. Greatness by receivers is defined not only in terms of sustained success, but how it correlates with TEAM success and eventual playoff success. Only one who fits that criterion in today's game is larry fitzgerald.

You can't call anyone an all-timer who has played on nothing but perpetual losing teams. (That goes for Dez AND CJ right now) Does Dez have potential? Yeah, but I certainly wouldn't rate him ahead of Michael Irvin, Drew Pearson, and not even TO

OP don't know how long you have been a Cowboy Fan, but Dez has a long long way to be in the mix.

I didnt read them. There is really no point in arguing with someone like yourself.
It would be as as pointless as debating religion or politics.

EDIT- The "someone like yourself" was not meant to sound as an insult. More like "anyone" really.

You read them you just can't come up with an answer. That's telling it like it is! I pointed to a lot more than just Pearson's key block on Dorsett's record breaking 99 yard run to support my claim that he was a great receiver. Are you denying he was a great receiver? Try focusing on my comments instead of me. When I spoke of the objective realists on this board I was referring to many not just me but some here try and make it all about me. You don't see things through my eyes so don't tell me I'm not telling it like it is simply because you see things differently. If you see things differently then stop tap dancing around my questions and throw some facts and stats on the table and let's see who's telling it like it is.

Wishing won't make it so.
Pure speculation.

Pure numbers.

We either pass on Dez or TSmith or we chose to build rev up the renegotiation machine to never-seen-before levels, creating a roster that would feature 30-40% dead contracts in the 2016-2018 timeframe.

Renegotiation today REQUIRES inflated contracts and dead money tomorrow. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.

Dez is a great athlete. But he doesn't get as open as Owens did. I agree that Owens wasn't as fast as some think, but he was definitely a bit faster than Dez and I think he had a bit better burst.

Dez is quite a bit better in traffic.

I don't possibly know how anyone could find a reasonable argument that Dez is an all-time great. Not that he couldn't be, but it's way too early to make that kind of statement.

What has he done? Seriously? What has he accomplished? Miles Austin has accomplished more for this team.
