Dez showed up to today's workout

You said the magic words. "Jump to conclusions".

You can't have a conclusion until you have all the facts. People that have a tendency to do that eventually end up wrong, looking like fools.

So, stop it!

Try reading about the lockout!
:laugh2: :star:

Just out of morbid curiosity i wanted to see if you had “jumped to conclusions” when months back Dez was reported as violating the mall dress code. Sure enough, you did: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3884698&postcount=26

As we found out later, Bryant was innocent of that.

What he does on sundays is really going to hinge on what he's doing now in the offseason and that goes for the entire team, not just Dez...

And do you think this can be judged anywhere close to properly by reading media reports?

There is another cool word..."worried".

You people worry to much about the Cowboys. Stop it.

Don't worry, be happy!

Jumping to conclusions without all the facts, will make you worry. Why?

You worry worts just love the Boyz to much that it makes you worry.

Settle down...it's all good.;) ;)

I sincerely hope you're not lumping me in there.

I'm a 23 year old senior in college. There aren't many worries in my life right now besides graduating in a week and if I have enough beer money for the celebrations :D

Wait a second, aren't we at risk of running some of these posters off for pointing out when they're wrong?

sup??

And so it has come to pass, ... Dez has now become as 'polarizing' on this board as T.O. was.

Some find fault with any little thing, while others defend even the most ridiculous.

Not sure why people get grief about this anyway. It's not like it was an illegitimate complaint. It was perfectly valid to be concerned that he wasn't showing up with a lot of the others, especially after the meeting with Jerry falling through.

People are just making judgments on the facts they have at the time. I'm sure no one has a problem taking back what they say when more information comes out. If you don't like people to comment on events then just disallow speculative threads in the first place.

Nobody's criticizing the judgement. What get's criticized is the emotional overreaction to a judgement based on insufficient evidence.

In this case, it was especially obvious because the story broke that Dez wasn't there without any explanation as to why or whether or not it was 'excused.' Clearly, there was information missing, but by the time that information came out, half the herd was already off the cliff.

That's going to happen on a forum though. I mean what do we really expect anyone to say if there is no more details behind a thread like that? If it weren't for the chicken little posts the thread could have went without being made. Not really news worthy if not for that aspect, imo.

Therein lies the problem. Some of us tend to just take something unrelated to our real reasons for hating a player and pound it to death only to end up looking like fools in the end. Just state the real reasons and press on. ;) The truth shall set you free.

Why would anyone on this forum hate Dez?

Desiring him to make better decisions and stating that isn't hate is it?

Not at all. It's perfectly reasonable to say 'I wonder why Dez wasn't there?' and to speculate about the reasons. It's the assuming the worst and then the race to take the most extreme negative position given the negative assumption that gets criticized. There's room for a tone of rational debate in-between.

Otherwise, this place becomes nothing other than a place to go when you want to witness hysterics. Not very interesting.

You do not think there are people here who do not like dez and hope he fails?

I'd just like to see the guy get his act together and its discussion threads on the internet that give the fans a voice.

All things considered, it's likely more plausible that he just skipped out on practice rather than having a reason, given the recent Jerry meeting and some of his college history. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to make judgments based on those points. Could have probably been done in a not so dramatic fashion though.

Turns out it wasn't more plausible. Same thing with the Jerry meeting. I still haven't seen anything one way or another explaining what happened there, so it's premature to do anything but speculate.

But that's not what happens. People use these speculation-bricks to build opinions that aren't necessarily based in reality. It's just what happened with the Tony Romo-isn't-committed-because-he-golfs-and-went-to-Cabo arguments. They were flat-out wrong, but they're then used to sway public opinion against the player. That misguided public opinion then becomes a bunch of questions about leadership that get asked to the players non-stop. Eventually, having your QB and team leader embattled constantly like that takes its toll on the team. And it's all fueled by gullible fans willing to jump at speculations in the first place.

That's the fun in forums. Trust me, if there weren't the "trolls" "haters" "realists" crowds running around and everyone agreed on everything and got along just fine, this place would be far less exciting.

I don't find that true for myself.

I liked this place a lot more in 2004 when I first joined, (came over from Austin360) and the discussions were way more logical, intelligent, enjoyable, ... way less confrontational ... and I'm sure that the overall IQ of the board was much higher.

Regular IQ and football IQ.
