So then what exactly is his incentive to play ?

if a team offers him less than 6 the jets offset it, but to exceed it do the jets pay the full 6 and the new team pays the difference?

If the guaranteed money exceeds 6 mil, the Jets are completely off the hook. There's about .0001% chance that happens. What you could see is a team offer a vet minimum type deal which include bonuses for each game played, similar to Greg Hardy's deal. Therefore there is minimal risk for the team. Protects them against injury and/or an underperforming player.

This is assuming:
#1. Revis even has a strong desire to play on a contender.
#2. The Cowboys are interested.

Both are unknowns.

I'm not sure what prompted Dez's tweet but this would an odd move given how the team has operated lately.

Absolutely no way this is Dez last year

Not according to some around here...

People seem to think that Dez is on his way because we haven't restructured his contract. While that could be a valid point...Dallas has made no attempt whatsoever in trying to bring in a receiver that can take his job. People seem to think we are gearing up to cut Dez without having a replacement despite the fact that we will be perfectly fine with the cap next season.

Like Romo...when Bryants big guaranteed money is done....he is done...and thats for the good of the "team" and moving on and winning SB's.
I forced myself to give you an automatic 'like' simply because I know you bleed silver and blue when your wife whacks you with a shovel when you get outta hand around her,brother.:lmao2::laugh::lmao:

Darrelle Revis doesn’t seem enthusiastic about prolonging his NFL career.

It’s quite possible the Jets will part ways with the aging cornerback after this season. And when asked Thursday in Florham Park how badly he wants to continue playing football, Revis gave an unconvincing answer.

“I’m under contract,” he said. “So I’m still playing.”

According to Pro Football Focus, quarterbacks have compiled a 109.8 passer rating when targeting Revis this season

Even saying this shows an obvious vendetta against Dez.

If Dez goes off this season and has a top 5 season...are we getting rid of him when he is still on contract? No way.

Romo was cut because he was replaced and Dallas could've used the cap savings. Dallas hasn't spent more than a fourth on a receiver since Terence Williams...nor have we even signed anyone that I can remember. Dez isn't being cut without a replacement on the roster...especially considering we will not be nearly as tight against the cap the next two seasons.

That particular poster has a knact for saying ridiculous stuff and not being able to justly back it up. I'm pretty sure he has me on ignore because I routinely dragged him in our debates
