Some insight on Revis:

https://www.___GET_REAL_URL___/nesn...-find-work-because-he-was-so-bad-in-2016/amp/

Here's that:

...Cimini’s sources didn’t believe Revis is completely cooked, though — just that he no longer is the shutdown corner he used to be for the Jets and New England Patriots. He’s now best suited for zone coverage, one suggested.

“He has lost a step with his age and some change-of-direction (ability) with his knee (surgery in 2012),” the head coach told Cimini. “I still believe he can do an adequate job at corner. I’m not sure if he has the range for free safety. He used to be a physical tackler, but with age that’s gotten worse, so playing strong safety is out of the question. Let him play corner with some protection and he’ll do fine.”

The Jets, who cut Revis in March, still owe him $6 million in guaranteed money, which they’ll have to pay him unless he signs a more lucrative contract with another team. If he signs a $1 million deal, for example, New York must pay him $5 million this season. This setup could entice a team to take a chance on the aging star if he agrees to sign for less than he is accustomed to making.

I honestly have no idea what Dez is thinking other than he's unaware of Revis' history the last 2 years. Revis just isn't what he once was. Dallas isn't about to pay him what he's become accustomed to and I couldn't be any happier that this is the case. We've already got our secondary signed, sealed and delivered. No thanks to any and all has beens.

If Revis focus would leave a view on himself, and focus on total conditioning, he could be very solid.

If the money works, why not? He'd just be a bridge player.

He's not the shutdown CB he once was, but he's still extremely knowledgable and for a secondary in the middle of a youth movement, having a vet presence like that can only be a good thing. The Jets give very little help over the top to their CBs, we're the complete opposite. Revis can still be effective as an underneath player.

It's possible, although 32 years of age for a CB on the downturn is a difficult thing to overcome. If he's intent upon automatically being the CB he was in years past, he's likely kidding himself. It would evidently take a dramatic turnaround in his commitment, first and foremost. It might happen, although I'd be reluctant to spend the millions it would take to find out.

and that commitment level wouldn't likely be seen (or not seen) until after he is in someone's uni...he just always seemed like a prima-donna to me...we have one on our team already and he wears #88 (and I love him)....we don't need a second...this guy would have to show me something positive (work ethic, willingness to coach-up the youngsters, etc) before my stance on him changes

I don't think he would be super expensive. He's still making 6 million with the Jets. 1 year, 3 million with some incentives may do it.

You are right though with your analysis. A great NFL player shouldn't lose their ability overnight especially at positions like CB and WR. We all love to talk about the athletic ability of players but I fully believe the mental side makes up 80 percent of a player at those positions. That's why you see so many great players play well into their 30s at those positions.

Revis would have to still have that chip on his shoulder but know his limitations. Veteran savy and preparation will have to take a bigger role for him to be successful.

Dez wanted to waste a top 5 pick on an irrelevant Jalen Ramsey instead of Zeke. His track record at CB isn't stellar.

You used 3 picks in the draft on cornerbacks including both day 2 picks. Play them.

Anyone know how many players on our current roster that have started in a super bowl game? I dont care if he isnt the Revis of old, I dont care if he is ultimately just a sponge for our very young corners. I dont know how we got to the point of shunning away guys that have played in more meaningful games than this entire organization the last 20 years. There has to be some value in that experience.

revis has earned so much money in his career. i doubt he'll play for peanuts.

Money would not be an issue. Revis has 6 million guaranteed coming from the Jets and/or whatever team signs him. Team xyz can sign him for peanuts guaranteed and then add on incentives if needed on a per game basis.

This doesn't make sense however player-wise, unless the team has completely soured on Carroll or definitely plans to trade/release Scandrick.

Dez's tweet definitely would make one think something is in the works so we'll see.
