Probably not very good. They've faced each other twice now, but Sherman has never shadowed him. In their first meeting in '11, bryant was targeted twice with Sherman in coverage for no completions, but I've never watched the tape on that game so I can't say I know for sure how many times they lined up across from each other. I do know that he had 5 catches and 66 yards against browner that game though.

Last year, again Sherman faced off with Dez 8 times and was only open 2 of those 8 times. And again, no completions.

But I would love to see Sherman try to cover Bryant on a goal to go situation. I don't think that would bode well for Mr. Sherman, all due respect.

I seriously don't remember us playing Seattle in 2011....

All the more impressive when you consider that Sherman does indeed play to the right of the offensive front, most QBs being right handed, he forces them to throw across their bodies to the left.

Always was a pet peeve of mine that Deions' half of the field was generally to the QBs left.

Sherman is a terrific corner.

He's the best no doubt. And he's 6'3. He was a WR at stanford too.

Seattle was still pretty bad at the time. Before the uniform change and Russell Wilson, but the 'legion of boom' was in tact by then.

They were talking up Kam Chancellor more than anyone that game, who if I'm not mistaken, forced a fumble on or near the goal line from Dez.

It was a boring home game that we won by like 10 points, but it felt like more. Felt like were destroying them, but not capitalizing and turning that into points. Very forgettable game.

Find out next year. Im thinking Dez can get the upper hand if he gets enough looks... Needs Williams to prove to be a threat.

I dont really agree that Sherman is the best DB in the NFL.

Hard to argue with 16 interceptions over the last 2 years.

Nobody shuts down receivers like Sherman does on a per snap basis.

In his years with Dallas and San Francisco Deion Sanders often shadowed the best receiver no matter which side he was on. If I am not mistaken, he had a pick from the right side in his SB with SF.

I don't understand the logic of anyone who really thinks that Richard Sherman isn't the best corner in the game.

I would take either. Sherman has a better defense around him than Patrick and they aren't bad either. They would be my 1a and b.

Flavor of the year though, one knee injury and it all changes...see Revis.

I would bet Joe Haden could be just as dominant on a different team.

He's not the consensus #1. A lot of advanced stats have him ranked lower actually. I know PFF has him ranked 6th. I think they have Revis, Haden, Peterson, Grimes, and Verner ahead of him.

His loud mouth inflates his value compared to other corners.

Dez could get the best of Sherman on slant routes but our genius of a HC/OC (or are we still pretending they aren't the same) would probably play to Sherman's strength and only call Dez number at the goal line with that same weak fade or back shoulder throw they run every time they Get to the goal line

Peterson will probably be the best in a few years but not right now, lol @ Grimes, Revis, and Verner. Haden is a player but he's not Sherman's level at this point.

It would probably depend on if early attempts to Dez are down the field as opposed to the "fetch and get em yards" that he is generally left to fight for on short hooks and outs. A timed post down the field would get Dez's positive energy flowing (focus) and not be so dependent on the 1 on 1 jaw match that would be sure ensue with short completions to the sidelines. Dez is one of the few receivers who could physically contest Sherman. He loves to play rough as is. JG would have to get him down the field to negate the grabbing(holding) he does on shorter routes.

CB I'll give him, but DB I'll actually take Earl Thomas first, but it is close though.

What's so funny? Sherman isn't even the best player in that secondary. E.Thomas is a better player but doesn't yap his mouth all day. Kam is pretty damn good too. Sherman gets way too much credit with the quality of secondary he has. Who's to say those other corners couldn't do what he does? Grimes is too old but those other guys are on par or better. Theyre just on bad teams and dont as talk much...

Thomas is good but Sherman is the best player in that secondary. The numbers don't lie and they speak for themselves. I don't care if a guy runs his mouth as long as he backs it up and he clearly does. This is football not chess, trash talking is a part of the game and Richard Sherman is great at mentally defeating you as well as physically defeating you.
