He shouldn't miss meetings or be late. That's a legitimate criticism, but I'd truly imagine his being a great teammate, elite talent, and his infectious enthusiasm for EVERY player overrides it.

And no this isn't Dak rubbing off on Dez, it's Dez being the same guy he's been. He's always been excited for the team.

Was this ever proven? Or just more media crap and fan crap? Or was it one time and urban legend began that it is all the time. LOL.

I honestly can't remember at this point, but think Jerry gave it some credibility with a comment. I really don't care either way, but if it's going to keep popping up rather just address it, trivialize it and focus on the important stuff.

It's common knowledge around the DFW media that Dez has missed meetings and has been late to meetings often. The actual numbers are what is unclear.

Most media are certain that it's over 20 meetings, but the time-frame seems to be unclear. Some people have claimed 20 meetings in the past year while others claim that it's over his career.

The genuine enthusiasm he brings to this team can't be replaced.

GMFB on NFL network is on in the background here. Nate Burleson just commented on how great it is to see Dez on the sidelines and so emotionally invested in the game.

Dak just yesterday said he thinks Dez is the best WR in the game. I think it's pretty safe to say that Dez is a pretty well-connected part of the Dallas locker room. It's obviously not a new thing in Dallas for anybody paying attention.

It's pretty obvious that Dez misses meetings and is generally just flakey as hell, isn't it? It should be at this pint, anyway. Dez does not have a normal temperament--even for a normally high-strung position group. It's definitely affected his development, it's cost him money, and it's a source of some frustration for his coaches and various handlers, I'm sure. It's something you put up with for a special player and doesn't change the fact that, all told, Dez is a huge asset for this team.

You cannot have all business-like players on a sports team because eventually, things will go wrong and you will have nobody there to change the atmosphere, provide inspiration, etc. Coaches can do that once or twice, but eventually it falls on the players to inspire themselves.

While you do not want a lot of highly emotionally charged players on your team, it is really good to have at least 2-3, especially across both sides of the ball.

I mean even someone like Kenny Gant and his shark dance had his role charging up the team.

That's just Dez being Dez. It's why his teammates all love him.
I agree...I think he's been a great influence on the sideline during this run...he's been a cheerleader, a motivator, even a WR coach in how he interacts with Butler and Twill throughout the course of the game...I think his overall influence on the team has been net positive.

Dez is a force of nature. But I've yet to hear a teammate or former teammate or even a coach have a bad word to say about him. His issues are understood. If they were coming from a more selfish place, I can see them being a real issue, but so far, that never seems to be the case.

I think he has a monster game on Sunday.

Dez has been notorious for being late since college. It's nothing new.

As none of us have never been late for work or to meetings...........more than once.
My bet is the majority of the American / world population has been late or missed meetings a good 20 times rather the past year or the past 6 years......but yet these same people want to hold it against players like it's a plague. LOL.

I wish we had Kenny Gant and his shark dance now. He could bring extra excitement for the crowds.

Amen...agreed. His issues over the years (whenever they've surfaced) have been more about maturity than anything else...likely due to a big time sense of entitlement growing up as a great athlete and being viewed as the "meal ticket" for those in his circle. I think the past two years have been humbling for him and I think the current wave has served as great motivation for him to return to his former explosive self. I think it starts Sunday and carries for the remainder of the season!!! He has torched the Eagles in the past as they've often tried to single him up and I think the same thing happens here...7 for 130 and 2 TDs.
