DFW Sportsbeat - Looks like Marty B and MBIII will be traded if...

"No chance in hell we get rid of BArber" Wasnt that what the so called Cowboyszone experts said?

LOL

The Pats have the 44, 47 and 53 picks, the Bungles have 54 and the Ravens have 57.

The Browns have 3 picks in the 3rd round as well.

There's a good chance Bennett gets traded to one of those teams.

Maybe we have a predetermined trade worked out with a team and it all depends on if a certain group of guys are still on the board????

He was a terrible route runner last season, and when he did manage to line up in the right spot and wind up in the same zip code of where he was supposed to be half the time he dropped the ball..

How many times would you guess that happened, if indeed it did ?

I find it interesting that fans who watch games on TV know a TE, who's at best a 5th option in an offense's passing game, is a " terrible route runner ". TV angles never show a player running a route unless is on replay, and just exactly how many times was Bennett's route running showed on TV replay last season ?

used in here by some people in wanting to get rid of Bennett, if applied to the team's roster over the past 3 years or so, the Dallas Cowboys would currently be without it's Pro Bowl receiver ( Miles Austin ), one of it's best pass rushers ( Anthony Spencer ) and it's best CB ( Jenkins ).

Nevermind the fact that Bennett has actually contributed more in his career before any those three players did before their breakout year.

Amazing..

Don't really see a HOF quality player in front of any of those guys.

One of Bennett's biggest limitations is that he plays behind Witten. As long as Witten is around, Bennett will be limited in what he can produce.

I think Bennett jumps at the highest bidder when his contract is up anyhow.

I'm sure everyone here who attempts to offer more then an empty opinion ,ignorant comments (see quote above for example) and fly by night knee jerk reaction apologizes.

now RW, dont go adding logic to any CZ discussion. Its probably grounds for banning here.

Bennett will never be worth what we used to get him as long as Witten is the starter. If we can get a high 3 for him do it.

i guess maybe i am the only one who will be really pissed if we trade bennett, he is young and will be a force to be reckoned with in this league, i just want it to be on the cowboys. yea i get it, most people think he is a knuckle head.

No. Not the only one. I would like to get him this year and see what happens. Also not trade MBIII. Not worth it.

Really, TO wasn't a HOF quality player?

Lets be perfectly clear: while Jason Witten is probably on the favorite Cowboys list of just about everyone here, hes also going to be 28 in about fifteen days. Martellus Bennett just turned 23 in March.

Thats nearly a five year gap in age for the math impaired. While Witten may turn out to be another Tony Gonzales, we just don't know for a sure thing that he'll be anywhere near the play he is when he gets past 30. That would be about the same time Bennett would be reaching his prime.

Would you rather have John Phillips or Martellus Bennett to take over then?

Anthony Fasano and Akin Ayodele for the 100th pick in the draft. Fasano has produced 67 catches for 793 yards and 9 TDs since.

Martellus Bennett, the 61st pick of the draft, has produced 35 catches for 442 yards and 4 TDs since.

Identify the bust.

that's why I never liked that trade in the 1st place. Fasano was a solid back up TE.

Why trade him for a lower pick than you used to get him and then turn around and use another 2nd round pick to essentially replace him?

You notice that Austin didn't get any sort of playing time until TO left. Thanks for reinforcing my point. I was talking about specifically about last season when all three of those guys stepped up because of a void in front of them.

What team has ever drafted a TE to play 4-5 years down the road?

I'd just have to guess that the answer is: No team.

Guess how long Martellus contract is........

4 years. So Dallas can get that one last year out of him on a tender and then he takes off for greener, most likely Silver & Black pastures or whichever team decides to pay him the moon.

I'm sorry but I just don't think the guy is worth waiting around until Witten "potentially" cannot cut it.

Jason Witten doesn't miss time. He plays through injury and unless he loses a limb, he will be on the field. His game is not based on speed or any sort of super athleticism. He is an intelligent technician and you don't lose brains or technique. Barring something unforeseen, I don't know why he couldn't play until he was as old as Gonzo.

Picking up another high pick in this draft would go a lot further than sitting on thumbs waiting for one of the Wayans brothers to finally graduate in life.

I have to agree with Hoof if we get a pick about where we drafted him this year the Cowboys need to take it that is a great return investment on a player that will never see the amount of snaps and looks even though he could put up big #'s. Witten is not going anywhere soon and Phillips looks to be a solid backup so you trade Bennet and draft another player or use it to leverage a move up in the draft if that is what Dallas wants to do.

This is not the teams of old where you can keep players like that forever, between FA and everything else they leave.

What do you really expect for him? Be honest.
about that much, that's why I agree. pass. he is worth more to us than a 5th round pick. tell me what 5th round player we can get that can contribute to this team? chances of him sticking on with the team?

I would take a 2nd for Marty B every day of the week.

Exactly, great post.

5th for Barber? Pass...

but it will be frrom the Dollphins. Fat boy Parcells loves Barber and Jerra wants to soothe things over with Fat Boy. So mark it down; barber is going to Miami.
As for Marty, I don't know where he will end up.
But do ya think the Raiders would be interested instead of Cinncy?
