Wilcox will have to step in and do the job. He has been playing better than this season thus far than he has in the past.

To be fair to Wilcox, he has been playing closer to his 2014 level than 2015. Wonder how he'll do in a closer to full time role, but the coaching staff had been on point when to sub him in and play to his strengths.

I see Wilcox starting with Heath now being the guy subbed in here and there

I think his main point was that we didn't have some greenhorn back there to sub in. He made the same point about Anthony Brown when Mo went down. Both comments were on point in my view.

The comment sounded odd to me too, but only because I read comments on here everyday. Perhaps Wilcox is more respected than we know.

Quite honestly, the entire secondary is playing MUCH better this year, which leads me to believe that the secondary coaching has been much better this year. What has changed there? Any new key additions/subtractions?

Carr and Claiborne switching sides has helped. Byron has been a glove in coverage. But I'm not sure what to attribute Wilcox and Churches play to.

Believe it or not, JJ has played really well this year. Obviously he's on limited snap count, but I can't knock him this year.

This is the way I took the comment as well. I think some are misinterpreting what he said.

He was simply pointing out that Wilcox already gets a bunch of snaps and that the Cowboys are okay with him stepping in. I don't think he was necessarily endorsing Wilcox's skills or anything.

That's exactly what he said: the replacement was a guy with significant experience as a starter at the position, not some rookie who'd never played anything but special teams.

With Jones taking over FS and most of the coverage duties it gives both Church and Wilcox the luxury of playing to their strengths.
Although they may have a hard time playing with each other!!? Did u see the constant jawing going on between them? Jones was frantically trying to get Wilcox in proper pre-snap alignments and Wilcox appeared to not be getting it. It got pretty heated a couple of times. Lol.

Wilcox has been playing very well this year. He's been playing a lot of FS and doing a solid job, so I have no concerns about him playing SS in the base defense.

I always thought Wilcox was a SS, no idea why we tried to play him at FS. He's still a liability in coverage and he will miss more tackles than Church does, but he's a missile out there and he's got to have some confidence going right now.

I'd still much rather have Church, but things could be worse, I suppose.
