I was ready to give up on Wilcox for a while. After a pretty rough early start, he has made plays. I still don't trust him as the last line of defense in pass coverage but he has been solid lately.

Wilcox is better around the line of scrimmage, blitz him or put him in the box. He will hit you that's for sure.

Although they may have a hard time playing with each other!!? Did u see the constant jawing going on between them? Jones was frantically trying to get Wilcox in proper pre-snap alignments and Wilcox appeared to not be getting it. It got pretty heated a couple of times. Lol.
We're going to miss Church especially his tackling ability which is second best on the team only to Lee. Wilcox is not a cerebral player and just hits anything that moves. He needs to learn to tackle like Claiborne finally learned to tackle by wrapping up. Hope Church gets well soon.

Agreed. Hopefully Byron keeps hawling his butt and helps Wilcox become a better performer. Not sure how long Church cud be sidelined but with him going down along with Mo, we really need some dudes to step up to another level.

Here is the thing, when you have two SS's playing, which is what you get with Church and WIlcox at the same time, you are going to have guys getting burned. With Jones able to cover, it opens up Wilcox and Church to do what they do best. I love Church, think he is a good player and a stand up guy, but I don't think we are going to miss a ton with him out. He definitely is a a surer tackler than Wilcox. We also will get a chance to maybe some development from Frazier.

With Claiborne playing so well and going out, we are pretty fortunate to have Scandrick come back and Brown look so good. Again I think we can survive this.

Who would have thought that our secondary depth would be one of our strengths?

I think we have all been down on Wilcox since he has been with the Cowboys now in his 4th season. However we have been down on a lot of the members of this secondary over the past few season but it seems Joe Baker and Greg Jackson have really worked hard to get this secondary playing better football and it is showing with Wilcox as well. What these players have done in past years means little to me what matters is how are they playing now

Who's not worried?

I am!

Church out for a few weeks and Mo maybe done for the season. Church is a stabilizing force and excellent tackler. Wilcoxs has been protected by limiting his number of plays and now he has to play full time. I am concerned.

The comment sounded odd to me too, but only because I read comments on here everyday. Perhaps Wilcox is more respected than we know.

Or perhaps Collinsworth doesn't know what he's talking about and being a color commentator is prone to hyperbole.

He also said yesterday that it was best he's ever seen Demarcus Lawrence play.

If Dallas was to lose anyone in the secondary for an extended period, I'd prefer it be Church. He is a stable player but he is not a difference-maker week to week. Losing Claiborne will hurt a lot more.

Boy did he lay the wood on sproles in the 4th qtr. Also saw him cover up a wr on a pass down the sideline. Maybe the dude is finally starting to catch on.
