Did anyone notice how Brent did in his debut?

Brent was a big part of why Chicago couldn't run the ball.
We feasted on interior run plays and they couldn't get a yard inside.

Brent isn't our Wilfolk but he is our Kevin Williams. Good luck moving him in the run game.

We will have to blitz to get pressure. Zone blitzes, some stunts maybe.
Not gonna happen with guys winning one on one's outside.

I tried to keep an eye out for him but I mean overall I think the defense did pretty good against the run so hopefully he had something to do with that. I thought McClain was kept pretty free all night to make plays so maybe blockers were kept off him?

He looked good. He's very strong and pushed the OLineman blocking him back consistently. They even played him on some passing downs where both DTs play as a 3-tech with a gap in the middle of the Line. He got off balance on 1 play, but generally looked good.

Let Melton try DE.. He was doing it in prevent D, what's the worse that can happen? We already get zilch from Selvie

agree and Crawford could be a better pass rusher then both of them, and spencer is looking pretty good at DE i would even stand him up at ROLB, imho he would be alot better then Wilber standing up

I can't help but laugh at anyone disappointed in D-Law.

Anyone who is had far to unrealistic expectations for a rookie who missed training camp and preseason. I don't know what anyone thought they were going to get.

The kid is not going to give you anything this year because he didn't get the offseason time needed to even try and be a factor, especially given that he's a rookie.

As for Brent it appeared he forced them to double him some. It seems like he did a nice job in the run game and had some push in there.

Agreed. Crawford and Mincey seem the most reliable. Finding a pass rushing DE is a must for this defense. A cover corner would be nice as well. Just those 2 positions alone could drastically improve this defense if the players brought in could stay healthy.

And we upgrade our linebacker Barry Church.

One can't help notice his presence on the field. Nobody comes close to his size on the D line. Need more "trucks" on our Dline.

Not to bring up an old subject but why would we not have at least given Sam a shot or even Boatright?

DE's vs. DT's is probably the reason, if you meant one of them over Brent.

And are we going to hear the ruing of Sam all year and off season. He's not here, because he still needed a lot of work yet to get better.

I tried to watch him when he was in. The Bears couldn't move him and he was able to penetrate. He fell down once but besides that he looked good for a guy who hasn't played in 2 years. I have a feeling he is going help stopping the run big time moving forward.

.........that's where they could get some good use out of Bruce Carter--he has ability to blitz(,it also showsup in ability block punts), put him in position to succeed........in a area of deep need
