Did anyone notice how Brent did in his debut?

I noticed the defense shut down the Bears running game the majority of the night. Too bad our pass defense can't do the same.

If we had a pass rush I think Marinelli would have the secondary tighten up their coverage. Without a pass rush I think they have to play soft and keep everything in front of them,,,

.........that's where they could get some good use out of Bruce Carter--he has ability to blitz(,it also showsup in ability block punts), put him in position to succeed........in a area of deep need

That would be ideal with Durant and Lee healthy.
With Hitchens and Ro playing beside him at Backer, Carter is arguably our best coverage guy.
You can sneak him in some but just as a change up.

I'd use more zone blitzes and drop our DEs who suck at pass rushing into coverage more.
Spencer would be really solid at it since he played OLB in a 3-4 and covered a lot.

I'd also blitz Wilcox some and man up Church.

Moore is a good blitzer off the nickel/dime set inside.

1 and 3 are just numbers of gaps. 3 if off a shoulder and signifies a guy beating a Guard one on one.
1 is over the Center and usually means playing both sides of the center tho Ratliff would shoot either side as a 1T.

Numbers generally are 1,3,5,7,9.

Offense does the same thing. 27 sweep is the 2 back rushing 7 hole. Off tackle.
Offense will have 0,2,4,6,8 as well defining strong and weak side plays.

On occasion we line people up on the 0 or nose as well. It's a really weird formation with our personnel. I didn't see it last night.

Thankfully.

my opinion on dlaw is simple..expectations were high, anyone can say well hes a rook or hes been hurt. But in all honesty he was someone when we drafted we wanted to make an immediate impact , and he has not been that

He didn't play last night, missed a significant portion of training camp and preseason and most of the regular season. All this as a rookie. He has only been a Cowboy for 7 months.

I know but I would like to see something. He seemed to get swallowed up by ol.

Agree he has been man handled a few times when he has been in there...all this after Beefing up during the injury, mind that i only analyze what i see not knocking on the guy because i dont like him personally

He looked good. He's very strong and pushed the OLineman blocking him back consistently. They even played him on some passing downs where both DTs play as a 3-tech with a gap in the middle of the Line. He got off balance on 1 play, but generally looked good.

Well that's a good sign, hopefully he'll be ready for more snaps against Philly

Hopefully, he is in good enough condition to play against Philly's offensive scheme. With their super fast paced offense, the defensive players can't rotate as frequently as normal.

How does a 7th round pick perform on Injured Reserve? Can you post some Youtube links so I can personally scout that level of performance? Thanks in advance.

So what's the plan?
Trade him for a seventh round pick?
Just cut him and try again next draft?

I noticed the defense shut down the Bears running game the majority of the night. Too bad our pass defense can't do the same.

What I see is we can't run a aft zone or prevent with the pass rush we have and expect to stop a,good passing team on a regular basis. We can mitigate that somewhat when we press or get a little more creative defensively. Problem for us was we kept scoring too quickly in the second half and then went to our prevent too early.
