Did Cowboys cut two players because they didn't wear suits?

It was linebacker John Roper. It was the day after his baby was born too. He was up late due to the birth and feel asleep in the meeting and Johnson cut him.

Didn't he also cut a punt returner after a game for fumbling ? Seems I remember something like that, can't remember the name of the guy I'm thinking of though. I believe his regular position was running back.

You mean Emitt Smith's backup Curvin Richards in 1992? He fumbled twice in the season finale against the Chicago Bears and Johnson cut him for it.

I was raised that it is your responsibility to meet the expectations of your employment and wear what the company policy requires.

Too many kids simply aren't raised on principles anymore.

Dress codes for travel are dumb to begin with.

If that is why they were cut I can only shake my head.

Injuries to Claiborne and McFadden left us pretty thin.

Luckily Turbin got here Weds and BJones can play CB.

Flew right over your head, didn't it? To begin with, all professional sports have a dress code for travel, but even that isn't the issue BG was alluding to. Rather, it may have been an indicator of a bigger issue, such as respect for team rules.

You may even have some rules at work that you don't agree with. You still abide by them, though.

If this is a lets bash the coaching staff type of post then you are looking in the wrong direction.

With these two players
Not bashing att. If nothing else, I'm APPLAUDING the coaching staff if this is true. It shows (imo) that they stand up for their principles.

I can wear short and flip flops to work and have on a few occasions. Wear shorts and t-shirts all the time. Having said that if there were a dress code then I'd no issue with it.

No doubt with Michael and White there were other issues or they would have just received a fine. Fringe players #1 responsibility is do not give them a reason to cut you which would mean you are doing your job.

I'd like to wear shorts and flip flops to work, but, I can't, so I wear what the people who give me money tell me to wear.

THANK YOU!! It doesn't matter if you don't like it. If its "company policy" you do it. Going off topic a bit but this right here is what is wrong in this country today. Entitlement. I should get to do what I want when I want and still get what I want even though I didn't earn it. Sorry for the rant

I'm sure not following protocol had something to do with it but I also believe CM lost his shot because he was flaky and could not take advantage of his opportunities.
Concerning White, it was reported on one of the local stations he had lost ground to the Olatoye kid and was expendable.

Last straw incident. There were other things in the locker room that didn't help their cases.

yep. they didn't get cut for not wearing suits. that's just the last thing they did when already doing many things to get them on shakey ground.

I agree dress codes are stupid, but F'ing up a dream job because you didn't want to wear a suit is moronic and tells me all I need to know about the intelligence of the players.

Shake your head all you want......If it is the case, then CMIKE and CWHITE needed cut......as a player....your earning a paycheck, get paid to do a job....either buy into the philosphies, and procedures of the business or MOVE ON.......CMIKE and CWHITE can explain-complain about the problem to there wife's and kids why they have to move again.....The big bad Cowboys wanted me to wear a suite....I'll show them....Hahahaha.....idiots players are born everyday. They got bigger problems then the Cowboys today....

Because it's within the framework of the team. And you're representing your team, the company, the brand. It's well within reason to ask an employee to dress a certain way.

You can tell some of the guys just aren't comfortable wearing suits. Sean Lee comes to mind. He just looks uncomfortable, but guess what they do it anyway. If our star players do it even though there is no way in hell they are losing their job, you fringe players damn well better wear whatever you are told.

The issue is about respect for your coach and your teammates, not about a dress code.

Yeah, you guys are kinda missing the point here.

It's not like the football players are going out onto the field with just shorts and a t-shirt. I mean, you can basically wear your pajamas on the sideline if you are out a game, but you have to wear a nice suit when getting on a plane?

It's dumb, it does nothing to improve the game, it's just them looking nice for the stupid cameras.
What do you think the NFL is? It's part of the entertainment business. "Looking nice for the stupid cameras" (and talking to the stupid reporters, etc.) is very much part of the players' job descriptions.
