And GB is #31 in the NFL in rushing and that means absolutely nothing these days. I wish people would stop hiding behind rankings as if that excuses what's happening right now. We just got 27 put on us two weeks in a row. People need to stop acting like there's nothing wrong with our D. Im not saying it wont get fixed, but from the extremely soft zone coverage to the wide open spaces left in the middle of the field, this D is starting to annoy me. And we proved once again Sunday that we cant stop on 3rd down for ****.

What is an acceptable amount of points for teams to score on us?

Not just picking on you but people like you better start getting used to this.

Its happening all over the league.

Scores are up... you can blame the league for its defensive penalties and protection on QBs or whatever floats your boat.

Its becoming a very pass-happy sport where teams are spreading out defenses. Nothing you can do about it but out score your opponents.

EDIT: And hope your D gets that key stop or turnover... like that 3rd down stop in the Lions game with 2 minutes and change left.

Quit dodging the reality that our D has nothing to be proud of after what happened last week. Our D got embarrassed for most of the game and finally made a stop that wouldnt have mattered if we didnt have such a great offense.

LOL @ you picking on me. Get real doggy.

What does us leaving holes in the middle of the field for teams to run thru and catch passes on us?? I wonder if people watch the game or just keep saying "Our defense has us 12-1" or "They made the stop when they had to" when they're the ones that put us in that hole. It's getting annoying. Performing well against the Jets, 1-4 Bills and beat up Rams is nothing to be proud of if we cant get it done against above average offenses. You got guys just standing around the field while the plays are still being made and giving up big plays that shouldnt be made.

Would you be happy if we had beat the Patsies 56-49?

The point is: what you say has little weight until it has been more than one game. GB exposed our Run D? They had how many yards? The only sample we have to go on is Detroit right now. That game was driven by Newman's smack talk. I'll listen to you once our Run D drops to #5.

1st off, please don't refer to me as "doggy."

Now lets look at the Detroit Lions and see what their offense did to the other NFC playoff contenders:

23 points and 278 (131 rushing) yards against the Bucs.
10 points and 376 yards against the Giants.
26 points and 331 (100+ on the ground) yards against the Packers.
20 points and 10 points 415 and 253 yards against the Vikings.

I wouldn't say any of these teams had great success. The Vikes had their number the SECOND time around and the Lions moved the ball up and down the field on the Giants, just didn't score.

As for the Packers and Bucs who apparently have a great defense the Lions ran all over them.

So enough with the Chicken-Little knee-jerk reactions over ONE game.

Whats so wrong with saying the defense came up when they had to, like the Bills game (ALL game long) or the Lions game on the last 3rd down - that play was FOR THE GAME. They convert, we lose. Its not some "excuse." The defense wasn't lights out but they were CLUTCH. Kind of like Romo in the Bills game, he blew, but when we needed him he came through.

You got that wrong. Our D has nothing to be proud of about last week. They can be proud of the rest of the season. And it is not that I don't have concerns about our performance last week. If you've seen me post, I stated quite clearly that we do have concerns. That if we played like that in the playoffs we wouldn't get anywhere. That was the kind of game where you make adjustments. It's not the kind of game where you throw your hands into the air.

In our offense? Of course. In our D? Disgusted.

1.Who said our run D got exposed??

2. Quit hiding behind rankings already. Its pathetic. Grant only ran the ball 13 other times that entire game, so lets not fool ourselves into thinking we held him under 100 yards with plenty of carries that he didnt have. Detroit ran for 152 yards on us. Did we shape up the second half?? Sure. Did we have luck on our side?? Most definately. 99 times out of 100 their kicker doesnt miss that FG and their D falls on that fumble, not kick it back into our lineman's direction.

If you think I was using last week as the prime example of my concerns, your mistaken. You can look at the Washington and GB game as prime example of that as well. What did we do when our pass rush moved the QB out of the pocket?? We started playing soft zone coverage and leaving guys wide open who werent even moving. Its a stupid problem to have, buts its a problem regardless. Like Wade said about Sunday as far as the run D, you had a guy free on every play doing absolutely nothing. Dog pile anyone?

From Spags:

My reasoning is this: 107 of the Lions' rushing yards came in the first half, helping them build a 20-14 lead. And this, too: 63 of those rushing yards came during the Lions' first possession.

That means the Lions rushed for only 45 yards the second half (14 carries). That means the Lions rushed for only 89 yards on their nine other possessions (9.9 yards a possession).

So it's not as if the Lions simply pounded the ball up the middle on the Cowboys the entire game. It was basically one half.

So will you face reality?

I am haveing flashbacks from the Saints game breakdown last year.Did Green Bay expose us for being able to run on us up the gut, like the quick passes Brees did last year?

It seems as we can be ran against when runningbacks not nescessarily run through hole but small 3 foot cracks. It's not like we are getting man handled by the offensive line, but runningbacks are popping out of small between people holes.

Then it seems as if there is nobody in the secondary to come fill the hole once they break clean. On both of the 35 plus yard runs(Duckett and Grant)both busted through the line and went the distance. It seems when watching, they went through a hole that wasn't there,I was thinkung they had to turn sideways to fit through the hole, thats how small it was.

I haven't seen anybody all year run around the end for a touchdown.Unlike last year I haven't seen our d-line getting owned either.
not to worry......we've been stopping the run COLD all year. we just didn't give any respect to the packers/lions run game (for valid reasons).....that can bite you, sometimes.....

well except for that one long run for GB their running back would have only had like 35 yds rushing that game, so it definitely wasn't the Packers

and as far as the Lions game, the team has just about admitted the fact that they did not expect Detroit to ever run the ball, and kept waiting on them to pass the ball...so i don't think the rushing defense will be that bad from now on, at least i hope not

Yeah... Wade said in his Presser that we made adjustments at the half and Lions averaged a little over 3 yards per in the 2nd half...

Will you face reality that if it wasnt for luck being on our side with a missed FG and a fumble that should've been a TO, we would've lost that game and the blunt of the blame would've been on the defense??

It's great to know that we got a D that can make those 2nd half adjustments, but its even better to have a D that goes into a game actually prepared. And it doesnt change the fact that they still ran for nearly 50 yards on us in the second half as well.

:lmao:

You knew the Lions were gonna be virtually balanced in play selection??!?!?!

:lmao2: You should get an interview with the coaching staff.

We could use a guy with a crystal ball that actually works.

My problem is just that. All we were hearing before the Washington game was how comfortable Campbell was against Philly in the no huddle and what happened?? He no huddled our *** for over 300 yards. You dont think Detroit is gonna learn from how they were playing this past month and Marinelli isnt gonna finally put Martz's pass first, pass last *** in check??

The fact of the matter is you got Offenses and Defenses who can quickly adjust to what the other side of the football is giving them and it doesnt take two hours.

Whatever man, you are great when you see all the cards face up but the reality of it all is the coaches and players see the cards face down.

Adjustments are needed in EVERY game at halftime.

If you wanna keep running around like a chicken with its head cut off then by all means do so... just be prepared for similar responses.

Whenever I talk about that game I said, we stole one. Now, given my scientific background , I want to know how it is facing reality using a small sample size. Why don't you wait till after the Eagles game, before you start running around here like you're a chicken with it's head cut off. I mean honestly, anyone who is basing there hypothesis squarely on two games, shouldn't tell people to face reality. BTW, those rankings usually are pretty accurate.
