With a defense and run game that good, no. They’re legit.

Jimmy G going down will have a bigger impact than I think many people realize, though. The difference between him and a 7th round rookie is going to be massive, barring that Purdy doesn’t have a Cinderella season.

This is my take as well. Yeah, they're still a good team, but having an inexperienced rookie QB in the playoffs is going to catch up to them eventually. Tough break for the Niners.

Not really. Their success was never dependent on the guy under center. In fact, they were predicted to do well in spite of the guy under center. They need another guy who can drive the bus.

Easier said than done. Jimmy might be a bus driver, but he's the bus driver you want. A guy who doesn't put up gaudy numbers but also a guy that won't make the stupid throw. I think for a couple of weeks their defense can rally, but asking for 5 games and the playoffs of carrying the team is a bit too much. They're going to be on the field a lot with a 3rd string QB at the helm. If their bodies don't break, they're gonna be demoralized by the time the playoffs roll around.
