Did the America's Team title ever get offered to Steelers? Sean Salisbury said so;

Offered by whom? NFL Films? Certainly not the Cowboys, who seem to have a say in how the moniker is marketed.

i tried to call into the show, but the woman online, wouldnt let me talk to salisbury, etc; i have a problem with my voice, talking so people can hear me and understand me, so thats probably why they wouldnt let me online to talk to salisbury, so i thought some of you die hard cowboys fans might want to call in and straighten out salisbury;

again i posted the phone number and i put up the link to the show, website

maybe you can get big mouth salisbury say whom offered the title to the steelers etc,

call him on his big talk;

i understand that but salisbury was crowing that the steelers should have that title, really burned me up because he was saying cowboys shouldnt have that title now;

what really bugged me was that salisbury whom i have never liked to begin with, was on a dallas cowboys flagship station and what crowing how great the steelers and patriots were, but not the cowboys, for not winning a playoff game since you knowwhen;

I completely agree that he is out of line. Salisbury has a pretty good gift at teeing people off...that "gift" is arrogance. He can really be annoying.

yep and it bugs me to heck he is on the dallas cowboys flagship station, crowing about it,

i could understand if he was on espn or a steelers radio station, but crowing about it on a Dallas Cowboys Flagship station just rubbed me the wrong way;

Not really, if you follow football you would have noticed that one team wasn't ready to play, but was well rested and tanned. You tell me which team that was. Try to work out that anger while you are thinking about the answer.

It's amazing how many people think that Tex Schram coined the phrase - there was an announcer here in NY that pushed that un-truth on ESP radio weekly, till he was let-go.

*Shrugs* It's a nickname and really isn't all that important. Is it cool? Absolutely. Does it assure us anymore titles, or anyone else that they try to give the name to more titles? Absolutely not.

Dallas is, was, and always will be America's Team. It's not something they can just tag someone else with years later and expect it to stick. Everyone is always so pissed at the Cowboys for that nickname but they didn't give it to themselves, it was given to them by a guy at NFL Films and they simply ran with it and marketed that, which is frankly the smartest thing a business person could do.

Beyond that who really cares. They're still the Dallas Cowboys no matter who they try to give that nickname too.

I've been a fan for about 20 years...so not my whole life like many of you. So as a way previous life outsider, I can tell that I didn't and really still don't like any team in any sport to proclaim themselves America's Team. 1st team to do it while they are dominant...and it sticks. All you ever have to do is put the shoe on the other foot. Same with Notre Dame being on TV every week even when they suck...it can be irritating to the outsider. Great move by the 'Boys and of course I'm a die-hard Texan man and Cowboyfan now (so I roll with it all just fine) as will probably be my kids (and maybe their kids).

It was not a move by the Cowboys. Why is that so hard for people to understand? Did the Cowboys shy away from it? No. Why should they? Tex Schramm was and Jerry Jones is a marketing genius. Who cares if it bothers other teams? What about the Cowboys does not bother other teams and their fans? NFL Films called it like they saw it. And the ratings don't lie. The Cowboys are indeed America's Team. As far as those of you who keep saying "who cares," apparently you do or you wouldn't keep responding to every thread with America's Team in the title.

every 2 years or so, some idiot tries to take the " America's Team " nickname away from the Cowboys, and give it to someone else, and they never succeed.

There's another reason why the Cowboys are known as America's Team, apart from Bob Ryan's magnificent idea, and that is that there's no other franchise in the entire industry that generates the interest ( wether for or against ) that the Cowboys do. Even in bad times, when the Cowboys are the punching bag of the league, they still manage to get America's attention more often than any other team under the same circumstances, and many other teams who are doing better.

But your description of the 07 playoff loss at least explains where you were coming from. I didn't realize they had real NFL football in fantasy land.

The Giants straight-up beat us in that playoff game. It was a great game with two good teams. At the end of the day, they made more plays than we did, but it came down to execution on the field. That game wasn't Wade's fault in particular, and you have to be seriously daft to think the trip to Cabo had anything to do with the outcome.

totally agree on that point, this team doesnt keep the nose to the grindstone or the pedal to the floor when and after thanksgiving approaches, its like the instead let the gas petal off, no true heart and intensity come december

till that is fixed, just dont see this team going far, their heart, intensity, desire must be fixed, now how do you do that; you work them, if they dont like playing hard in december, work their rear ends off in practice during the week till they get it;

oh, you mean we no longer can get away with half effort in december, your going to work our rear ends off coach in december, till we show true effort on the field come game day, gee i get it now;
