The presser is pretty clear
They were discussing between a couple of defensive guys
I think we made the right pick
Yes. That’s what it sounds like.

This isn’t directed at your reply, but it in interesting at some of the interpretations some posters regarding the cowboys organization’s point of view on draft night. It almost makes me wonder if I was watching the same draft that they were. Lol.

Nope. Listening to the presser and conversation afterwards it sounds like the Cowboys had decided against TE at 26.

The Bills unnecessarily traded up with Jacksonville.
The Cowboys are never going to act like their guy was taken so I wouldn’t be putting a lot into what was said at the post draft presser. Even with Dalton Kincaid off the board practically everyone on ESPN’s draft coverage thought we were going to take a TE when we were on the clock. With everyone talking TE with the Cowboys, the Bills couldn’t take a chance and had to move up to assure they didn’t lose Kincaid. I believe there was a real good chance we would have taken him had he been there. Personally, I didn’t think Jerry or Stephen looked that happy at the presser. Stephen said they had about two or three players with the same grade, and had a pretty good debate on who to take. That leads me to believe their number one guy was gone.

The Bills GM is positioning this TE comparably to a slot receiver..........specifically Beasley. You can't make that up.

There is no way of knowing one way or the other, so it’s really just conjecture and opinion no matter what side you are on…..but I tend to disagree with this line of thinking. But it is is a reasonable thought.

NO, the selection of a TE in the first round was the most manipulative idea ever, according to the experts Dallas would select Mayer, it was absurd, Dallas first needs to fill the holes with the best players available, Mazi was one of them, now they need G, Torrence and Avila are the best options.

If you’ve watched enough NFL drafts, you’ll know that every team acts like they got their guy. They’re all hugging and high-fiving in the war room after they make their pick. With just under three minutes to go on the clock it was pretty intense in the Cowboys war room. Stephen admitted at the post draft presser they were debating on who to take. Buffalo moving ahead of them and taking Kincaid threw a wrench in their plans in my opinion. Jerry didn’t even want to talk about TEs during the presser. He didn’t look very happy. I think he got talked into taking Smith. They had to make a quick decision between 2 to 3 players that Stephen said they had the same grade on. We all have an opinion, and I don’t think Jerry or Stephen were thrilled with the pick but they were okay with it because it was a need. I really believe Dalton Kincaid was their guy.

Great misinformation job by the Cowboys. Reading all the reports after last night was done, it was clear the Cowboys weren't going TE at 26.

They sure fooled Buffalo into trading up.

The issue I have with Nolan smith is he doesn’t really solve a need. Doesn’t help the run d. we have plenty of pass rush already.

And I like Nolan I think he’s a high motor high character guy.
only issue is he went to Phillys or an nfce rival will trigger fans .that why it seems worse then it is. everything looks better on paper.. who it all fits goes to the Chase young's of the world. you dont know until they get on the field.

Our run d is flat out awful. So I get the drafting of a big dt.

But I see it as you can never have enough pass rushers. The eagles had a record breaking year in terms of sacks, but they keep adding pass rushers.

The eagles seemed to rectify their run defense in through mid season free agent additions last year.
rectify but wasnt never that great we ended up 4.4 ypc and 9 tds and they were 4.6 ypc and 15 tds.. i mean lets stop making teams paper champions. The DC seemed to get it resolved i mean they created wall in the playoffs and ddi not get ran over.,

they got flat RAN over by a gimpy QB and RBBC in the 2nd half of the sb., you call that resolved, it cost them the SB, oh the pass rush NO SACKS given up by KC either. right the 2022 eagles were the 85 bears SMH our fams just lie cheering for the other teams now.

if it was so resolved why did they move up for off field issue Carter and then take Nolan smith..apprently they are still trying to fix it.

I wouldn’t be putting a lot of stock into the reports after the fact, because before the draft many who cover the Cowboys and the NFL said they were interested in TE. A lot of mock drafts had the Cowboys taking a TE. Practically everyone on ESPN’s draft coverage was talking TE with the Cowboys. They still thought they would take a TE after Kincaid was off the board. The Joneses are never going to act like they were sold on a position or a particular player if they didn’t end up with that player or position. From watching the war room, McCarthy and Jerry were having a somewhat heated conversation prior to the pick. I think McCarthy talked Jerry into taking Smith. When the post draft presser started, McCarthy was the only one with a smile on his face.

Because they are were great d lineman at Georgia. If you have a chance to draft those types of players past where they were slotted, you take it.

Just because we are cowboys fans doesn't mean we have to put blinders on when it comes to the eagles.

They won a Superbowl several years ago. They completely revamped that team and were back in the superbowl last year. They will be the overwhelming nfc favorite again next year.

They are showing to have one of, if not the best front office in football.

They made the mistake of overpaying a Qb in wentz. But somehow they were able to fix that and not screw up their cap future because of it.

Yes. Way to go. Jerry is just renown throughout the league for his ability to subterfuge.

Whats your agenda? Pom pom squad audition?

I'm not mad at teams who are aggressive in getting their guy. They felt the Cowboys may have had a chance to take their guy so they gave away a 4th rounder who probably wouldn't have made the team or been a minor contributor and got the guy they wanted.

Brugler said on his draft recap show last night that yes he thinks we were planning on taking Kincaid, and Todd Archer said today he thought the opposite and it was Mazi all along. Probably will never really know. Given the debate that was going on in the draft room, I tend to side with Brugler, seemed like more debate coming down to the last minutes of the clock than usual.
