The 'right' decision says kick it, every time. I'd have gone for it, just because we spent all those resources on the OL, we're good at short yardage, and because the thought of losing like we did in the playoff game or to GB earlier this year again is just too much to bear. Going for it, not making it, and then getting beat by a fg I could live with easier.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer but the call to kick a field goal at the 1 inch line was bad. if we can't push that in from there, we didn't deserve to win that game anyway. i though it was a gutless call.
Agreed! It was like getting the year membership to the “Jelly of the Month Club” instead of that bonus.

Yes, you have to kick on 4th down...they had held off our goal line rushes....take the points to take the lead back.

I agreed with going for it on 4th down on their own 40, and I agreed with kicking the FG on 4th down. If Lewis doesn't lose his mind and give up a 55 yard pass interference penalty on 4th and 10, it's not even a question.

I rip Garrett a lot for his decision making, but he gambled today big and it paid off.

Take the points and the lead. This is the choice 10 times out of 10. This isn’t Tecmo Bowl or Madden. As much as I despise Garrett-top, Clap Attack made the absolute right call there.

I thought Carr was generally not playing that well, that's why I thought it would be better to kick it. If it had been Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady... I probably still kick it but it's a tougher decision.

I'm not confident Carr makes it down the field without the help of Lewis. A field goal would only tie and their kicker had already missed.

Yes, you kick the fg. What you don’t do, is run 3 times up the middle.

With the season on the line, you do whatever it takes play calling wise to get it in from the 5 yard line in 3 plays.

For as ballsy as the fake punt was and the 4th down from your own 40, the coaches curled up in a ball when 6 points was imperative.

It was a bad decision because our D just couldnt get to Carr this game ,we really need Irving back vs the Seahawks.

We didn’t get it in from there. Lol

I don’t think it would’ve been a big if Brown catches the gimme walk in pick 6!

I would have preferred going for it, but then again, given how easily the Raiders were driving down the field, that wouldn't really have mattered. They would have tied it up and probably won in overtime. Getting the points was the right decision.

We went with our strength and ran it down there instead of getting cute. We failed.
FG was the right call, win or lose.

I feel confident that there’s not a coach in the NFL who wouldn’t have kicked the go ahead FG after getting stuffed. Only fans want to go for it.

Ya kind of had to kick the FG there because they blundered the three previous plays. Rod should have been in there and no shotgun formations. It was a terrible series playing safe. That is my biggest gripe, not the decision to go for it or not.

You guys man.....Garrett probably coaches the game of his career. And this is the night you guys chose to question his decision making? You don't leave 3 points there. You just don't.

This is seriously a thread? And the majority of the board turns down the game winning points? Well, we at least know Garrett is smarter than more than half the zone.

It was the difference in the game. How can you disagree with that call? Go for it and not get it, then we go to OT rather than win in regulation time.

Looking at how the game ended with the PI call, that should tell you how fragile this win was. To not score and give them the ball, that was an L and no chance for a W. It's pretty clear.

Agreed, but I already knew most the folks here were not the sharpest football gurus.

Wrong.

And I tend to think that we should have kicked the FG.

But, if there was 1 minute left and no timeouts for Oakland...different situation.

This was close...but the timeout and the time on the clock changes things.
