as bad as Key is, he is 500% better than MIcheal Irvin. Thank God ESPN had enough sense to get rid of him. Now if they can extend the same service to Emmit after the season, they would be a lot better. I can't listen to the content of Emmit Smith because of his poor delivery. The guy makes more grammatical mistakes than anybody on TV to the point of being embarrassed for him.

At least Irvin talks football. His personality may be extreme but even as loud as he is sometimes he is entertaining to me because he does not try to be unbiased but just speaks his mind.

I am sure as a Packer fan you don't like him and so be it but he is much better than a jealous guy who just wants to take shots at all those he thinks deserve them!

Are you sure about this?

Sorry, they showed 5 WR sets for the first time a few weeks before against the Vikings the week before. They just showed it more against Detroit, because they had so much success with it and it was a real weapon.

Before the season, many people, including Brett Favre, did not believe the Packers had enough juice at the wide receiver position.

As it turns out, they might have the best group of five wide receivers in the NFL.

The Packers have such depth at the position that coach Mike McCarthy has taken to playing all five at a time in what he calls the Big Five package. He also uses a lot of four-wide-receiver sets. The Packers have been their most dangerous with four and five wideouts on the field.

The five:

*Donald Driver: The nine-year veteran and two-time Pro Bowler is the mentor for this group. He knows Favre as well as anyone, and is on a pace to come close to his career bests in receptions and receiving yards.

*Greg Jennings: The second-year man has stepped up his game dramatically this season. "He has made the most of his opportunities," Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin says. "He's really coming on."

*James Jones: The Packers were criticized for taking Jones in the third round of the 2007 draft because he was deemed too slow. And Jones was told to take a seat after fumbling twice in the Bears game. But he has rebounded nicely and now has caught more passes than anyone on the team except Driver.

*Koren Robinson: There never has been a question about the talent of the ninth pick in the 2001 draft. But Robinson has been suspended twice for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He returned from his second suspension four games ago and has given the Packers a spark.

*Ruvell Martin: The second-year man is different from the other Packers receivers because he's 6 feet 4 inches and provides an inviting target in tight spots.

There are two keys to the Packers' multiple receiver sets. The first is the ability of the offensive line, particularly tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher, to protect Favre without help from tight ends and backs. And Favre also gets a share of credit for avoiding sacks.

"Brett is so good at seeing where the blitz is and if there is a blitz getting the ball out quick," quarterback coach Tom Clements said.

The second key is most defenses can't match up with four and five gifted wide receivers.

This was on display Thursday in Detroit, where the Lions didn't even try. When the Packers went to four wide receivers, the Lions still kept two linebackers on the field and played only five defensive backs. And when the Packers used five wideouts, the Lions still used their regular nickel defense at least part of the time.

The result was the Packers were able to get a receiver matched up on a linebacker at times -- and Favre just killed the Lions' defense.

Do you think they're going to stop doing it against us?

Mike had some "homer" in his system, but he was entertaining and, as SP stated, made the show ALOT more viewable!

Not me. I actually enjoyed listening to Irvin. He was very entertaining and was passionate. I definitely prefer listening to Irvin over Key.

Ohh, could it be a Packer fan about

MMM, Love Gumbo, Packer fan or not. And I make the best. (100% Coonass here)

anyway, I never liked Irvin and that had nothing to do with being a Packer fan. I do like Troy as an announcer so the Cowboy angle must not be it.

I have a little bias against Emmit tho. About 1.5 yrs ago, my 28 yr old daughter was out in ORlando with her best friend at Bahama Breeze restaurant. Emmit comes over to her(my daughter is an absolutely gorgeous blonde) and tries to pick her and her friend up. My daughter had no idea who he was. He then plays the "I'm Emmit Smith-former great football player card". She had heard the name of course but she laughs at him and tells him to prove it. He shows her his Super Bowl ring and drivers license. He then offers to take them to a Lake Buena Vista Club and get VIP treatment. My kid asked him if he was married. He said yes, and she said NO. I raised my kid right. Maybe I should call his wife and tell him what her hubby is up to.

Maybe you should, if this is true. Emmitt's wife is drop-dead gorgeous, by the way. I wonder about some of these guys.

Wow, why would you want to be recognized as a "coonass"....You have just degraded a whole class of cajuns and creoles....Apparently you don't realize the significance of the word, which is quite similar to the word African Americans detest..Maybe you should clean some of that cheese out of your ears, because you are obviously missing something up there

How many teams do have four or five really good corners, though? None of them.

Really good corners? Probably none. But I'm not asking for really good, I'm asking for CB's who belong on an NFL roster (much less the roster of a Superbowl contender) and I'm not sure Nate Jones or Oglesby fit into that category. Oglesby couldn't make a roster out of training camp, and when we released Nate Jones earlier in the season nobody claimed him. It's not like teams aren't looking for competent cornerbacks.

Holy smokes. I remember that time in Orlando. I was getting back from Disney with my family when I saw Emmitt talking to two buck teethed blondes. He was feeling sorry for them cause the restaurant wouldn't let them in wearing masks ... little did the restaurant know they weren't wearing masks.

Emmitt was being polite and these two giggling hens thought he was trying to pick them up.

I love stories ... especially when told third hand.

There are only a handful of really good corners in the league. I cant imagine a tougher position in the nfl currently than cornerback. The table is completely stacked against you and if the opposing quarterback is not hurried you basically have no chance. At least years ago a corner with good strength and quickness could use his hands and the sideline to his advantage and fight off good wr. Now its just bump them quick and hope the quarterback misses his target, that is the only way to define a good corner.

as far as oglesby goes, I dont believe he has been active for three weeks, I think brown took his spot, I have to check that though because brown may have taken thompsons spot, I actually dont remember.

And for jones not being wanted, that is hard to determine he was brought back two days later and that seemed like a wink and a nod kind of deal.

At the same time we are very shorthanded in the secondary and we will struggle the next two games to slow down the opposing quarterbacks. The key to me is going to be make them kick field goals and keep them out of the endzone. We all know favre is going to throw it all over the place just like brady did, I have no doubt he will be 300 + yards and a couple of touchdowns, but if we can keep it close and hold them to a field goal when we score a td late we will win the game, just like the skins game. They threw it all over for whatever reason but they didnt score td's, just alot of yards.

Its going to be a fun game and people expecting us to stop favre are not being realistic, but does that mean we cant win? Absolutely not. I would think we should make some plays when they go 5 wide also, if they want to spread us out and throw it 3 yards we will be fine, as long as everyone tackles and i believe this team tackles well, especially newman and henry.

They have played a number of tough games, but I think we will have the best pass rush they have seen and personally I think they are ready to lose a game, they have squeaked a few out that they had no business winning, like us in buffalo.

I cant wait for thursday and I hope our secondary plays well enough to slow them down for at least that one drive when they really need to get in the endzone, just like the skins game.

You're right, CB's are hard to find .. which made the Glenn move particularly astounding. No, he wasn't a Pro Bowl caliber CB any longer, but he's still a guy who could be a decent #3 and spot start for a playoff contender ... which is what he's currently doing now.

Yep, I see this game coming down to red zone efficiency and turnovers. The Packers are going to spread it 4-5 wide and pick on our secondary. Another key is tackling the Packers after the catch. When the Packers went 4-5 wide against the Lions, Favre found the pre snap mismatch and quickly released the ball on a 3 step drop to the hot route to negate the exposure to the passrush that is inherent with the 5 WR set. If we don't tackle well those 5 yard passes are going to become 20+ yard passes. Also, it would be nice if one of our defense backs could jump those hot routes for an interception, but the Packers will also put on a double move/pump fake and air it deep 3-5 times a game so you have to be disciplined.

Our offense will score points. They can score on anyone. The question will be can they score enough.

I have to disagree somewhat.

The Green Bay Packers for all intents and purposes are a throwing team. Alot of the time, using the pass to setup the run.

I could see the Cowboys front getting too him, especially if the Cowboys jump on them early and force the Packers to become 1 dimensional.

Yeah i still dont no what to think of cutting glenn? It hasnt been a big deal to me, because I think it was in line with what this team has done since wade has been here, be aggressive. I see it as an aggressive move to give the playing time to reeves, which can only help us down the road. If we draft a corner in one of the first two rounds next year and he can come in and play right away we might be 4 deep at corner. That will be huge.

and again I agree when they go 5 wide the key is tackling the quick stuff and forcing them to sustain drives. I think lee and franks will have a bunch of catches, they are a mismatch and they will be used alot.

We have to outscore them, simple as that.

that would be fantastic, I just dont think we or anyone else is going to slow down favre.

an interesting stat I read today was that Green Bay has not allowed a fumble or int return for a td, or a kick or punt return for a td. It says alot about how they are winning games.

IF we can tip a ball and return it, get a kick return and score that could be the difference in the game. I feel they have been ready to lose a game for a couple of weeks but have not made the mistake to allow that, which is a tribute to them. You cant do that forever.

Man I am going to be screaming my head off when we are on defense I hope the rest of the stadium is with me because a few false starts here and there and a sack or two could force that big mistake they have not made yet this season.

I think it is too much to ask to stop favre though, he is simply awesome right now, we have to give him his yards but keep him out of the endzone and make them kick field goals.

I grew up in SW La. I am a coon *** 100% My family is 100% french descendants and the term coon *** is not a deragatory term. My family of cajuns and creoles refer to ourselves as coonasses. It is a term of endearment. I have nothing to be ashamed of.

When Nick SAban used the term the media got all over him but in reality, SW La creoles, Of which I am one, understood it. It was the media that over-reacted.

So apparenly I do understand the significance of the word. Would you like my Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo recipe to prove my birthright....
