Did you guys notice Roy Williams on nickle packages?

What!?!?

Hitting the vodka a bit early......Roy has some singing girl, don't even remember who but I think she used to stand behind Beyonce. Lucky girl.

You said, wrote, posted, blogged, typed in Morse Code something inaccuarately. I was right. Nice try on the grammar lesson. The way I used "innacurately" modifies the verb "spoke" correctly not "describes." Cheers, Professor!

Lame post, Dude.
Apparently you still don't understand how adverbs work.

These safeties are quietly having an outstanding year (besides the 1st game) and we've quietly slid up into 8th defensively. Roy playing ILB in the nickel and dime is genius.

The guy can cover the short stuff like no one's business, and if you try to run, he's there as well. Meanwhile, Watkins is taking care of his side of the field, and Hamlin is simply becoming a STAR back there, he's everywhere.

Heck, I was even wrong about that. Even in the dime packages we played two deep safeties. It's just that Roy wasn't one of them then.

At times, Roy does play deep in the nickel and/or dime defenses. When Carpenter is in at linebacker in those situations (usually with Burnett as the other linebacker), Roy goes to deep safety.

Who was the CB against Bruce on that play, anyone know??

Nate Jones was lined up across from Bruce, but he was dropping into a deep zone (it was third-and-23). Burnett had the short zone on that side and didn't get over quite soon enough to stop the quick slant.

You seriously think it matters what order the words come in?????
Dude that's like 5th Grade English or somesuch. He spoke inaccurately. He inaccurately spoke. Both are grammatically correct. (Or) Both are correct grammatically. Man, don't challenge me on Grammar.

WEAKNESS.

You are correct in that you should have learned how adverbs work by at least 5th grade.

He's challenging you on grammar to draw attention away from the original point.

So do you not think that we played our safeties deep at the snap throughout the game?

I know we didn't play them deep "throughout the game", but either way, I don't really care.

I mean, we held them to zero points (defensively), does it matter what our safeties did? They could of been playing checkers back there and I'd be happy with them keeping the Rams offense out of the endzone.

Well, I agree that it doesn't really matter, but then part of the reason we held them out of the endzone was that we played two safeties deep most of the time, not letting their receivers get behind us.

"Most of the time" and "Throughout the game" aren't the same thing.

But yeah, I agree keeping them in coverage was smart to do vs the Rams cuz we certainly didn't have to blitz a lot to pressure Bulger. Not with that sorry excuse of an OL.

That's actually the way I prefer it. Send 4 or 5 (at most) and just defeat a blocker quickly to get pressure. That's the best way to do it.

If you can consistently get good pressure with 4 rushers (or 5, at most) then your pass D will be good (so long as your DBs don't completely suck. They have to at least be average).

But that's neither here nor there.

This hole argument between you two is silly, but I've been involved with a few of those (with you) so I shouldn't really say anything. :D

The safeties in the nickel are Watkins and Hamlin. Roy serves as one of the LB's in the nickel.

It's really a dime package with Roy playing the dimeback spot. But you can call it a nickel as it's pretty interchangeable.

It's kind of a hybric package so I'll call it our "7 and a half cents package".

That's the usual lineup, but we sometimes put Carpenter at Roy's nickel linebacker spot and move Roy to deep safety.

That's the nickel package. The other, with Roy in the "linebacker spot," is a dime package.

At least, that's what Wade has termed them.

OK, then when we're not in the 3-4, we've played mostly dime defense and very little nickel defense.
