Can't stand eli but anyone that says it was his D and it wasn't him is nuts
He certainly played a part in it.
The defense was the main driver, but like Flacco in his playoff run, Eli did play efficient playoff football.
I assume you mean anyone that says he wasn't a big part of it....that his D wasn't the ONLY part of it.
And I can't agree with Mike b on that helmet catch , close your eyes, hail mary throw my Eli.
For starters, for sure he was in the grasp...more than once.. And second, that was about as pure luck as any throw I've ever seen.
To his credit, they didn't blow the whistle so he kept playing and managed to get out the grasp couple of times to hurl in the air anywhere near a Giant.
He just threw it up for grabs and Tyre somehow pinned it against his helmet and came down in the crowd with the ball.
You may see a catch like that once every 15 years.
Not only that. The play before that he threw it right to Samuel, the NE defedner...who dropped it. The dude had an angle on his shoulder that day.
IN 2007
Eli threw for 3300 yards, had 23 TDs and a whopping 20 ints.
He was average at best that year, but got on a roll in the playoffs
In the SB, Eli ended up with 2 TDs , 1 int, and an 87 QB rating ...all while his team scored 17 points to win the Super Bowl. And the Defense held the highest-scoring team in decades to 14 points.
