Romo was one of very few elite quarterbacks during his time.

Dak is a young guy with some potential.

It's comical to compare them.

Sorry, but when was that time ?
Another time in another Universe ?

I dont give a f about Dak's confidence. Im just talking about Romo's back. 3 injuries to his back in 3 years - ruptured disk and 3 fractures. The next hit may be permanent damage. Can't play around with that. There's a reason why Romo opted for retirement. Romo shouldn't be on a football field anymore.

It's just too bad that Dak is all we had to replace him.

Romo never ruptured a disk..he fractured the transverse process which means nothing structurally. His collar bone was busted several times, IMO more of the problem. He could have played again and if he went down again you put Dak in. The Cowboys know this but they wanted his money off the books. They wanted room to build out the rest of team while Dak has a rookie contract.

Could go down as the biggest blunder of all-time, only time will tell

Just going to leave this right here......

2013 -- Ruptured disk. Romo missed a winner-take-all meeting in Week 17 against the Eagles after undergoing a discectomy two days before the game. Romo actually suffered the injury in a thrilling 24-23 win against the Washington Commanders in which he delivered the game-winning touchdown pass on fourth down. With Kyle Orton starting, the Cowboys lost to the Eagles 24-22.

2014 -- Two transverse process fractures. He missed the Nov. 2 meeting against the Arizona Cardinals after he was kneed in the back by Washington linebacker Keenan Robinson. He returned for the final two series after X-rays were negative. Brandon Weeden started against the Cardinals, and the Cowboys lost 28-17.

2015 -- Broken left collarbone. Romo suffered the injury in the second game of the season when he was sacked by Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks, who landed on top of him in the third quarter. The Cowboys beat Philadelphia but lost the next seven games with Weeden and Matt Cassel as their starting quarterbacks.

2015 -- Broken left collarbone. In his second game back, Romo was knocked out on the final play of the third quarter, when he was sacked by Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. While Romo's previous fractures had healed, he suffered a re-break in the healed portion. He missed the final five games of the season. The Cowboys won just once (at Washington) without Romo all season.

2016 -- Compression fracture, L1 vertebra. On the third play of Thursday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, Romo was driven into the turf while sliding by defensive end Cliff Avril. After the game, Romo said he felt good and Jerry Jones said he expected Romo to be ready for the regular-season opener. Romo had an MRI on Friday, which showed the break. A source said he is looking at a 6-10 week recovery period. Rookie Dak Prescott will start in Romo's absence.

I thought the 2013 was a cyst removal, I don't recall him ever having a ruptured disk..could be wrong

Some want Romo back because Dak is struggling and I understand missing him since we aren't winning right now. At the same time it isn't worth playing Romo for him to be one hit away from getting hurt again. He's not as durable to hard hits as he was earlier in his career and the last thing I would want for Romo is for him end his career on a worse injury than the one that made Dak the starter.

Football players do have a life to live after football. One which shouldn't be altered by an injury.

This looks like a replay of those seasons where Romo would throw 30+ touchdowns and a 100+ passer rating and the team goes 8-8 because it's fundamentally a trash organization.

That's better than what Dak is doing, but fundamentally just as hopeless if being an actual contender is your goal.

Wasn’t ruptured, but a herniated disk repair. There was confusion around if and some say it was affiliated with the cyst issue.

The collarbone break was in the same place, like you said, and was the main issue. They actual performed the Mumford procedure as preventive in 2016, though Romo was considering a plate.

Nothing preventing him from being effective on the field.

Also, Romo’s last injury per a spinal surgeon was a “textbook” compression fracture for a professional football player and isn’t mechanical, that would prevent a player from returning.

http://geauxspine.com/dr-james-tony-romos-back-injury

And it was attributed to:

Romo landed in an AWKWARD SEATED POSITION while his spine absorbed a great deal of lateral and downward force.

https://sinicropispine.com/cowboys-lose-romo-l1-spinal-compression-fracture/

What that means is it was because of the awkward slide and positioning, meaning bad luck. He was slow and fat and out of shape, getting back into the routing after resting from his off season surgery and he was chugging along and slid poorly where he was seated and the DT fell on him while seated. Anybody could have fracture their vertebrae like that, meaning chance..

True. Unfortunately, not everyone has a base understanding of anatomy and physics for comprehending what they saw for themselves when the injury occurred--or even on replay, for that matter.

Shoot. Forget that lone injury. Any injury suffered by any player is more accurate.

Those were solid links. Thanks for posting them.

It’s a semantical argument cooked up by Dak slobberers because at this point they literally have nothing left. Romo literally never appeared in a game until his 4th year but if you listen to enough Dak slobberers you would think he was getting some gigantic advantage that Dak didn’t get. By the same token you could say that Dak had 4 years at a major college in the SEC getting experience and playing under the bright lights while Romo was playing at a community college. Regardless of their different ways of getting there, by the time Romo was in his second season of actual playing, he was light years ahead of Dak and that’s a bitter pill for the average Dak slobberer to take. Hence all of the semantics.
There’s a lot of things people are posting trying
Pre-Draft scouting report in Dak, point being his identified weaknesses from college are apparent this year:

lol the startling similarities to what we are seeing now is scary.

ive him the league's best offensive line and running back, a superstar wide receiver, a Hall of Fame tight end and more offensive depth than just about any other quarterback in the league and yes, he can throw a five-yard out to Cole Beasley. He can hit Jason Witten for a first down, or even throw the ball 30 yards down the field to a streaking Brice Butler. He can throw jump balls that Dez Bryant has to catch.

SMH to this

Why wasn't Romo more successful if this sack of crap so easily did it.

A ruptured disk and a herniated disk are the same thing. So is a "slipped disk". They all mean the same thing.

Guys - Romo had 3 scary back injuries all within the space of 3 years. You seriously think he was healthy enough to continue as the Cowboys (or anyones) starting NFL QB? The Cowboys and Romo made the right the decision.

Someone's got a bad memory.

You are correct as his spectacular season that followed caused this, as he went on to pass for more than 3,700 yards and earn a passer rating of 113.2 during the 2014 season. Despite missing one game as a result of a sudden impact in the previous game against the Washington Commanders, Romo started 15 of the 16 regular season games in 2014 and led us through two rounds of the playoffs without being sidelined by herniated disc symptoms.

The Difference between Tony and Dak is that Tony sat and learned under Parcells and didn't start for 3 seasons and Dak was thrown in from the day he entered the NFL.

That's really the difference guys.
