Difference between how Dallas and Philly handle contracts

oh good. We're with the browns and dolphins. Atta boy Jerry.
Sure is a low bar some people have for this team. Can you even imagine being proud about this and mentioning it out loud. At least we are better than the Browns and the Dolphins.

So we compare favorably to the Browns. LOL. Quite a high standard you are setting there for a team that once has the most SB wins.
yep... the Dallas Cowboys, Browns, Bengals, Dolphins, Jaguars...are all alike. A once winning organization is now just an also ran.

No it's not idiocy or incompetence, there are so many teams that conduct their contract the way the Cowboys do theirs and some that doit the way the argils do theirs. There's no right or wrong way to do it, you either get it done or you don't, you either pay more or you don't.
Philly does not set the standard, stop looking over the fence at them and wishing we were them, they got lucky this season, now they start their down hill plummet. they will return to their train wreck ways soon enough
The Eagles run their franchise similar to most NFL teams. The Cowboys, don’t.

no we can"t and shouldn't admire the eagles. I'm not acknowledging anything they have down, we are not overmatched either.
Watch the eagles hit bottom soon
I dont have to be an Eagles fan or admire them to see that they have had a much better plan recently and for the last 30 years since we won a Super Bowl. Four Super Bowl appearances, 2 wins and many other conference championship appearances. Pretty easy to see that our front office is overmatched.

I couldnt agree more. Hes a guy who didn't miss a lot of time with injury or anything. They had three years to evaluate the player on and off the field. Hes also a guy who seemed to take a team friendly deal in the end so its not like he was holding out to maximize his deal. This is just Jerry/Stephen Jones not wanting to spend money until they absolutely have to. Philly has ownership willing to put up as much cash as they need to improve their team.
I consider Tyler to be the third best player on the team. I want to lock him in for the long haul.

So you're siding with the Eagles over there tight end who got paid four years 57 million so that's around $11.5 million a year and now go take a look at our rookie because we chose to get rid of Schultz instead of pay him they should be getting flowers for that not what you're saying is the Eagles finally realized they made a mistake and now they're going to have to get rid of Dallas because he's not doing anything I mean didn't Ferguson just get criticized for having a bad year during a concussion year and an injury year did you want to compare stats on a rookie deal we're talking about fifty nine catches for four hundred and ninety four yards for our rookie on a cheap contract... They're tight end had 496 yards so one is highly paid and had a bad year actually a second year in a row of going downhill but you're criticizing our front office for recognizing that get rid of Schultz and now at least if you're going to have underperforming players you better do it on a rookie contract but some of our fans just don't see it you had to mention this guy now I had to prove you wrong.... This is a prove it here for Ferguson but everyone criticized every how bad a year he had but really the last two years his numbers are almost the same as Dallas Goddard and yet they overpaid the guy and you're giving them flowers you know how weird this looks as a Cowboys fan to give the Eagles props where it doesn't belong they won the Super Bowl that's what they done better

2023Dallas Cowboys17167176110.7405
2024Dallas Cowboys1414594948.4270
You're really struggling with this when we talk about other teams maybe it's just philly. I live in PA, born and raised, I'm around eagles fans allllllllllllll the time, they talk about my team, I talk about theirs. But in the end, we're allowed to call out things as we see it, a lot of us our fans, but a lot of us are also fans of the GAME! It just doesn't have to always be the Cowboys are great I love them they're everything I love and ever need! Man if Pat Mahomes, or Saquon end up making a good play for their team, why are we wrong for saying something good about it?

Yeah I agree its not an exact comp, but I think we still see a general roster building philosophy difference there between the two organizations. I'll just never understand waiting on a guy like OSA only to still extend him. His 2023 and 2024 were nearly identical. Its not like he became a significantly better player last year. Same issue with Bland. No reason to not extend or trade him now.

From the 2021 draft Philly has already extended Smith, Micah is still waiting on his extension. Landon Dickerson has been extended for a year, OSA just got his. You can certainly find some examples that are the opposite way, but typically Philly is way more open to extending guys early and quicker to move on from guys as well.
The roster building philosophy couldn't be further apart from eachother. Not possible. The Osa thing for me was just a guess. I did not think they were going to pay him. I think the same with Bland. But who knows. It's never a good idea to wait for a contract to expire if you want to keep the player.

They're also looking to trade Goedert or let him go, WE would choose to keep said player and hope and hope and hope he finally does something for us
Maybe you should pay attention as to show you dont know what you are talking about. Goedert signed a 4 year 57 million dollar deal and will have an 11 million dollar cap hit this year.

So players all over the nfl sign early. Just in Dallas they don’t want to?

The owners philosophy of deadlines make deals has nothing to do with it?
First round picks typically dont sign after their 3rd years. Its not in their advantage to do so. To negotiate, all sides have to be willing to negotiate. People that complain we dont sign our 1st rounders after year 3 must think they can brute force negotiations.

There is plenty to complain about with the this organization. However if you dont put real thought and effort into it, your complaints become empty more times than not

Most players are more than happy to get the security of an extension sooner rather than later
Not really. You guys signing Smith after 3 years is a rare example of a 1st round pick signing after 3 years. Most extend after year 4

Maybe you should stop trying to be a wise guy, and read around the internet, get caught up, instead of trying to pay an insult. Your focus was more on the insult than the substance of what's really happening right now. There's talk of them wanting to part ways with him

What round was Bland drafted? How about Osa?

Dak?

None of them were in the first round, yet. Contracts expired before being negotiated with.

They have an out right now and are looking to move on from Goedert. He’s UFA next year. His current contract isn’t the problem. It’s the next one they won’t be able to afford. This is where the salary cap comes into play. Even for the vaunted Eagles and their “genius” GM. They have nine days to exercise the 5th year option on Jordan Davis. They likely can’t afford that, either.

Carter is a keeper. And he’s going to cost quite a bit.

Thanks for explaining!

Nah, you said: They're also looking to trade Goedert or let him go, WE would choose to keep said player and hope and hope and hope he finally does something for us.

My point was about the part in bold. They signed the guy to a big deal and now want to unload him in the last year of the deal. Nobody is taking him, and the Eagles are gonna bite 11 million this season if he is or isnt on the team.

They have an out, and he has a dead cap hit of 11 million this year.
