It comes down to risk?

Which side are you on? You want your shut down guy playing? Or do you want him to make a business decision on a couple of tackles a game?

Everyone gets the effort thing. Its what do you do when you are an owner or coach with a lot riding on the line? Things change when there is something of significance to lose. Its why internet GM's are so unreasonable...they have nothing to lose. Real GM's lose a million+ yearly salary if they make risky decisions that dont pan out.

Personally...I dont think Diggs antics are costing us games. Lets see what happens if teams find a way to exploit his reluctance to tackle. Until then...Im cool with a couple business decisions per game that keep my stud corner locking down receivers for 70 snaps a game over. Give me 40 lock down snaps and I'll give you 20-30 yards that Diggs gives up on bad tackling.
I want my defensive guys making tackles. I can look past an honest attempt, but the one thing I’m not going to do is make excuses for not even trying.

He's trying...just not the way you want.

Hes like blue heeler trying to corral steer. But Diggs is trying to coral the ball carrier into other defenders to make the tackle lol.

In a pass heavy league...I want lock down corners playing as many snaps as possible. Pass plays eat chunks of yards.

Ok...The Natural...we both have decent points and we arent going to agree...

The main question that this comes down to is:

Are you suggesting you would trade him if he got hurt tackling?

Would you trade a lock down corner because of injury risk? Or would you allow business decisions and retain the lock down corner?

This is what it comes down to. Put your name on it.

Diggs has always been like this. Then you see Holt chew his *** on the sideline and he makes a physical 3rd down stop.

What the hell are you talking about? Tackling is literally part of his job. If he doesn’t want to do it he needs to talk to McCarthy in the offseason and inquire about a switch to WR. Business decisions..whats next? Hey TP, just whiff on that block..we dont want you to get hurt. Give me a break

Diggs isn't even close to being a "lockdown" CB , He plays 5-8 yards off the WR most downs . Dude is soft like warm butter

We all know Diggs and know tackling was not his strength.

But it was shocking at times to see him seemingly do as much as he can to avoid it in a game that’s win or go home.

I know it wasn’t a secret about Diggs but man, a guy like Deebo is gonna work him if he’s planning on playing defense just the same.

Love Diggs, we can’t do this without him.
I thought I was the only one to see this. Man was avoiding contact like the plague.

Diggs has tackled before. Maybe rare but he knows how to do it. He wouldn't not tackle in an important playoff game if it could be helped. I'm assuming he's dealing with a minor knock and they can't risk him injuring himself with the depth issues we have.

Off all year. Teams haven't tried attacking him. So confused.
As long as he's going to play off and cushion as much as he does, if I'm the OC, I go right at him. He's starting to remind me of no. 41, Terrance Newman at the end. Seems to be doing a lot of chasing.

I don’t know what’s wrong with you people, he definitely will show up. You don’t realize how important he is.

You’d have to be dense to not know how important Diggs is to this defense and team. It’s all love for Diggs; but he was avoiding contact as much as possible during the game, it was just bizarre. Was it intentional, design, was he injured and not telling anyone…

It was impossible to miss during the game. It’s been mentioned many times already.

Remember, a guy named Deion Sanders. This post is a joke. People giving him a hard time.

It’s a joke to compare Diggs to Hall of Fame Deion Sanders IMO

I love Diggs and I hope he gets to that level, but he’s not there yet.

No body here is giving Diggs a hard time, we’re just not forcing ourselves to look at things with rose colored glasses. If you didn’t see Diggs ducking contact, I’d suggest rewatch some of the game.

Just like the joke, some people are comparing San Fran’s quarterback to Prescott, LMAO. Comparing in the sense, neither one wants to tackle, so what. Gets the job done. Nothing to do whether I see it or not, I don’t think it’s an issue. Until it becomes one.

You are right my friend. If he gets the job done, so what!

And yes, give me Prescott over Purdy!

I am x and o's ignorant. Your post seems to make a lot of sense to me.

I assume the there are other factors for both teams to make your suggestion wither work or not work...

My question is...is this easy for a defense to stop if they start doing this with success?

My suggestion would be to throw Mukuamu in there if Diggs is the primary issue?

Lets say they do what you say and Dallas has to cover for Diggs leaving other holes in Defense...what are the options? Put a fast LB like Clark over there to help Diggs?

I really have no clue
It's kind of like squeezing a balloon. You can slide an extra defender towards Diggs' side of the formation if you think they are going to run something quick his way, but then you open up room for a McCaffrey run in the spot your helper left.

Lots of smart guys have schemed to stop Shanahan's offense, and most have failed. He is very, very good at what he does.
